Love is a very confusing concept. One never knows when their time to fall in love comes. It occurs that one day, you can be seeing someone and look at them and think, "Oh I think I'm in love with you." Or, you can feel this uneasiness when being with a partner and just fall out of love with them. Whatever the case is, love is typically what most people yearn for in their lives at some point.
As Elvis Presley once said, " wise men say only fools rush in." This is shown in certain instances, in which some people find it easy to fall in love and are capable of falling in love many times. However, other people are unfamiliar with the institution of love and its main principle. Some people go into relationships and convince themselves that who they are with is the One, whereas other people prefer to wait and see where their relationships take them. Proven fact, people tend to do crazy things when they are or they believe to be in love. Love is such a desirable idea, that many people, young and old, are willing to settle down with anyone because the fear of being alone is too much to bear.
Four Years Ago in New York State
"Elena... I know it sounds bad but it's not really that bad," Alexander Nelson, Elena Garcia's fiancee, exclaimed as she proceeded to dump all his items into a suitcase.
"So you mean to tell me that you've cheated on me and got some woman pregnant but that it's really not all that bad?!" she screamed as tears ran down her face. "I've wasted so much time on you, I dedicated a relationship with you for about four years and finally you proposed to me and I accepted, just so that you would cheat on me! At what cost?"
"I didn't know how to break up with you, and then next thing I know, I'm being pressured by my family to settle down and I didn't know what else to do," he lamented as she threw her engagement ring in his face.
She continued to carelessly pack more of his stuff into his suitcase and said "Let me give you a piece of advice Alex, when you want to break up with someone, you don't propose to them and cheat on them and get someone pregnant. Be a man and break up with someone, don't hurt them anymore. Now please get the fuck out of my house and don't come back!"
"I never meant to hurt you, El. I'm so-," but he was interrupted by Elena slamming the door in his face.
"Save it jackass," she yelled as she yanked the necklace he had given her on their anniversary three years ago and watched as the pearls went clattering to the floor.
Meanwhile In Georgia Four Years Ago
Matthew Smith watched as his girlfriend of five years, Angela Martinez, tucked her daughter, Kayla Martinez, into bed and turned off the lamp on the desk. Then they walked down the stairs to go to the living room and sat down on the couch side by side. Angela turned on the television and Matthew toyed with his fingers as he worked up the courage to break up with her.
"Babe, are you okay? You've been anxious all day," she commented as she witnessed him playing with his fingers and took his hands in hers to prevent him from continuing.
"Yeah, actually no. I've been trying to work myself up to talk about something important." He mumbled as his palms got sweaty and he stuttered on his words.
" What is it love?"
"Well for staters, I'm not happy Ang,"he stated as he watched her curious expression transform to a crestfallen face.
"Why not? I thought we were fine? We've been hanging out more and talking and we've been together for such a long time! You've even been like a second father to my daughter, Matthew!" Angela exclaimed as she took her hands out of his and moved into the other corner of the couch .
"Ang, I want to break up. It's just not working out, I don't think I can take this big responsibility of being a father and I need to do something more with my life. You and Kayla are not the problem, I am. I cannot provide for you guys and it deeply concerns me. You deserve better and I can't give that to either of you."
Angela took her hands out of his and screamed, "How could you do this to us? You charmed your way into my life and I introduced you into my daughter's life because you convinced me that you were serious about this relationship and so different from other guys."
"Angela, it was never my intention to hurt you, I am so sorry for that, but you're right it's not fair to you or Kayla; and hence why I am not the man that you both need in your lives," Matthew said as he got up from the couch and headed for the front door.
"Before you go, who is the woman that you're leaving me for?" Angela asked as she choked back the sobs threatening to escape. Matthew stepped dead in his tracks and swallowed hard. Of course she'd think I'd cheat on her, he thought. Angela's ex, Samuel Lyons, had walked out the day that she had told him that she was pregnant. However, before he had walked out he had mentioned how he had cheated on her with various women and thus how Angela was wary of most males. It had taken a lot for Matthew to get her to trust him and to demonstrate to her that he had no intention of cheating on her. After a couple of months dating, she had finally introduced her daughter to him and things had been great.
"There's no woman, Ang. I've never cheated on you nor would I have ever done it. My decision to leave is not on some woman, but more so my need to advance in life and provide for myself to become a better man." With that said, Matthew walked out and Angela finally slumped back on the couch and allowed herself to cry.

hey guys, this is my first story on Wattpad, I used to publish on Quizilla and on Mibba; and recently was inspired to write this online story, it will take me awhile to ride this adventure with Elena and Matthew, since a lot of characterization and setting has to be described. I am aiming to release a chapter every week or every two weeks, I'm a college student so any precious time I have to write, I'll take advantage of.
