Avery:

"Ugh! I lost again!" I grumble in mock frustration as my nine year old brother, Jack, victory dances around the room.

"Pikachu always wins! And Link always loses! Pikachu is the Super Smash Bros champion!" He boasts in a singsong voice.

"You just got lu-" I begin

"What did I hear about Link losing?" My older brother, Alec, asks as he comes into the game room. "You aren't disgracing the name of Link are you, baby sister?" He questions as he ruffles my hair and takes the remote from my hands.

"No, Alec, Link and I have been doing just fine. " I emphasize the last two words as I jump to get the remote back from Alec, who's holding it over my head. Curse my shortness.

"Is little Avery having trouble? Is she too short to get the remote?" Alec teases as I continue to jump and flail in a futile attempt to get it back.

Then my Saving Grace comes. Well, my Saving Charlotte.

"C'mon Alec, stop being a troll and give her the remote." Alec's twin sister, Charlotte (or Char), orders.

"No." Alec declares defiantly.

"Fine then. Have it your way." Char tells him as she swipes the remote right out of his hands. And she hands it back to me with a victorious smile. I stick my tongue out at Alec teasingly, as I wave the remote in the air.

"Hey," Alec grumbles, crossing his arms like a toddler would. "You shouldn't be helping the short one."

I make a face at him that is, in no way at all, attractive. "Being short is the best, you're just too blind to see it."

Before Alec can make a snarky comeback, my seven year old sister, Mia, walks in and whacks Alec in the leg. "Leave Avey alone!" She shouts as she makes angry faces at our older brother.

Alec gives her a goofy grin as he grabs Mia's legs and flips her upside down. "What are you gonna do about it? You seem a little stuck."

She screeches with glee as she pounds her little fists against his chest, Alec completely unfazed. "Put me down!" She cries and she tries to bite him, contorting her little body anyway possible.

"Ok." Alec tells her as he walks to one of the bean bags sitting on the ground. He promptly drops her on her head and she tumbles to the ground.

"Owwy, that hurt Alec. You're such a bully." Mia complains once she righted herself.

I took Mia away from mean old Alec and now we're playing Barbie and Ken in Mia's room. Help me.

Don't get me wrong, I love Mia, I just hate Barbie and Ken even more.

My salvation comes when my mom calls,"Dinner's ready," and we both scramble downstairs, eager to eat.

Tonight, dinner is Chicken Parmesan, my favorite. I eat quickly, wanting to escape to my room before Mia can drag me back into playing Barbie and Ken. I'm also really excited to finish my book I've been reading. I only have about 60 pages left, I can finish it tonight. Let me just clarify a few things, yes, I am a nerd. Yes, I read for fun. Sue me.

After I've been reading (and texting) for close to an hour, I turn the final page and close my book, exhausted. I take a quick shower before I hop into bed and go to Dreamland. Good night.
