Tomorrow is the day I get my driver's license, and I'm not going to lie, it will be pretty cool to show up to school on Monday in my new car, or at least my dad's old Honda, showing it to all my friends. I just hope I pass my test because what if I like have a spasm or something and completely wreck the car, or instead of hitting the brakes, I hit the acceleration. I would be the kid they say not to be like at the DMV because of how badly I did on the test. Anyway I'm just anxious to see what tomorrow brings, who knows everything could be different now that I'd be 16.

"Jonas, get up and put something nice on we're leaving in 15 minutes!" screamed my mom.

I was pretty confused, normally most kids wake up with their parents warmly greeting you on your birthday and preparing you a nice breakfast, not screaming from downstairs to get up and be ready in 15 minutes. I jolted out of bed, and rushed to get ready, maybe my mom was going to take me to the DMV when it opened so I'd be the first in line to get my license. Maybe my parents had some special outing planned, after all why else would I need to wear nice clothes. After I got ready I sprung downstairs to see if there were any surprises, but I was just greeted with a bowl of soggy cereal and my sister Jackie, who was on the floor playing with her barbies.

"Happy birthday sweetie, I'm sorry to get you up so early but we have to be on the road before 8 to get where we're going in time." my mom said.

"Wait where are we going mom, why are you being so urgent? Are we meeting Grandma?

"No sweetheart, I'm afraid I can't tell you much, your father and I agreed that it would be best, but finish your cereal and we'll get on the road. We have a terribly long drive ahead of us."

I was really confused now, because the DMV was like 5 minutes from us, and my grandparents live in the next city over, so I have no clue where we are going. Maybe we're taking a surprise trip somewhere for my birthday, I know Disney is like a 6 hour drive from us. I finished my soggy  cheerios and headed to the car. My mom came downstairs with a couple suitcases but I noticed that they were only for me.

"Hey mom, do you want me to fetch your bags?"

"Oh no sweetheart, your father and I don't have any bags, they're only for you."

"Okay can you tell me where I'm staying, It's the middle of the school year, I can't just leave for a few days. Do you have any idea how much work I'm going to be missing?"

"Don't worry about that, just get in the car, I packed everything you need, and we'll have a fun time on the road. Oh and don't you think we forgot about your gift. I told the family that you'd want cash so we piled all of your birthday money and put it into a bank account for you, and it's about $1,050. We also got you some new clothes, shoes, and other little things that we packed in your ags for you but you can open it when we get to our destination."

"Okay thank you mom and dad, I love you but I really want to know where we're going."

"Just get in the car sweetheart."
