The doctors just left Chase's hospital room. They said that Chase has a very small chance of waking up. That we should prepare ourselves now, for the inevitable. His death.

No, he won't die. I believe he won't. I say that to myself, as I try to comfort  the crying Mrs. Daniels, Chase's mother.

"Maybe the doctors are right, we should-" Mrs. Daniels says, but I interrupt her.

"No, Chase will  wake up." I say, and I believe every word. "We just have to be strong for him. We have to at least do that."

"You're right Cath. But you should go home now, it's getting late."

Mrs. Daniels always makes me sleep at home, even thought she knows I would much rather be here with Chase. But every time I reluctantly agree.

I give Mrs. Daniels another hug and say goodbye. After exiting Chase's room, which has quickly become my other home, since I spend most of my free time there,  I turn the corner to get to the elevators. And there he is.

Chase. He's standing, facing the elevators, as handsome as ever. His short brown hair, perfect jawline, tall and skinny body. To me he's perfect, not the perfect guy, but the perfect guy for me. I love him and all his flaws. Even that scar on his shoulder that he got when we were kids.

I run up to him, and tap him on the shoulder. When he turns around, I realize it's not Chase. I quickly apologize and move away from the guy I thought was Chase.

This has been happening more often. I've never had hallucinations before, until after Chase's accident. More and more frequently I've been imagining him on the streets, in my home, at school. But I can't tell anyone, they'll think I'm crazy.

I'm probably just tired, Mrs. Daniels is right, I should go home.
