"Well, I'm sorry to say I won't be drinking this with you. I actually have a prior engagement that I should be getting to." I gestured to the drink and smiled. "Thank you, though."

He stood with me and my heart pounded double time. "Anytime." He said softly. We stood there for an immeasurable amount of time, our gazes linked. Finally I turned and walked towards the door.

"Reyna." I heard a voice call quietly. I half-turned, my hair falling in waves over my shoulder. Lyric was sitting again, a smirk of amusement on those damn lips. "I'll see you later tonight."

I smirked back, licking the tip of one of my fangs. "If you can find me you can have me. But you're not gonna find me."

I watched hunger flash in his eyes and I walked out before he could say more.

I readjusted my jacket as I walked into the cool late autumn air. The smell of summer and winter mingled in the air and I looked around, not surprised at the nearly empty sidewalk. Thursday nights weren't major party nights and most of the people I passed looked tired enough to fall down asleep on the sidewalk.

I breathed deep as I walked the five blocks to Amanda's, my gaze darting everywhere. I wondered vaguely if the people I passed thought me deranged, the way I kept moving. So animalistic. Lyric had taken away months of practice and left me acting like a newborn, ready to fight and kill anything that dared attack me. I shook myself and swore. "Calm down." I muttered, knocking on the door to Amanda's house. She greeted me immediately with a drink. "Rose told us about the odd encounter. Spill."

I smiled wryly and walked inside, taking a sip. "Not until you spill about your latest guy."

"Good, cause I love going first." She shut the door behind us, locking us in with loud music and drunk friends.  "His name's Kevin. Lame, I know. But you should see him dance." She shuddered and I raised an eyebrow. "Appearance?"

"Why ask me when I can show you?" She grabbed my arm and led me to the kitchen where Rose was conversing with a male model and several other people. The model took Amanda's arm and she grinned at me through her long blonde hair, glancing at him as if to say 'Sexy, right?'. I held up my cup in approval and took another sip, determined to continue my buzz. Rose came over to me and nudged me. As if in sudden realization Amanda's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. "Rose, Reyna, I think I left some stuff up in my room for you. Come with me to get it?"

I internally groaned and nodded as Rose dragged me up the stairs behind Amanda. We went into Amanda's bedroom and Rose locked the door behind us as Amanda sat on the edge of her bed.

"Spill. Cause I haven't seen you look like this since Drake."

"Look like what?" I asked, confused. Rose pointed to Amanda's vanity and I gasped in horror.

My usually pale face was flushed with color, my lips a bright crimson red to match. My eyes were sharp and frantic, the color constantly in flux. My long waves somehow managed to wave themselves seductively and I opened my mouth to see my fangs elongated. Long, pearly white fangs ready for whatever I needed them for. "Damn!" I swore. Both Amanda and Rose nodded. "See our concern?" Rose said softly. I took another glance at my vamped out reflection and sighed. "This vamp bought me a drink. Lyric. For some reason he got to me and we barely said anything to each other."
