I walk out of my sister's house , locking the door behind me. Adjusting my book sack and fixing my freshly curled hair, I start walking to the bus stop. It's still dark out as I'm down the street, I take out my phones and scroll through my texts. My boyfriends name comes into view and shoot him a reply.
my duu: goodmorning fat head
me: goodmornin duu, you just waking up??
Sliding my phone back into my pocket, I stop at the end of street. The air was cool and slightly humid. I hated walking all the way to this busy ass rode. I'm a junior in high school and in very need of a car, I was heading to Mackely Jons High. The bus pulls up in front of me, taking me out of my thoughts. I step on without acknowledging the driver. She was so wishy-washy and only spoke when she wanted, so I stopped speaking all together. Sitting down I realize how sleepy I still am and lean against the window. I put in my headphones to zone out the noise of the bus as it fill with students. I'm still kind of new to this school and it the second semester. I knew handful of people though and only missed my old school Zachary a little. At Mackely, I felt as though I had a better chance of being noticed with colleges. Zachary only showed interest to the students in sports and had family in the administration and school board. I mean I was smart as hell and took my education seriously because it was all have. I see my friend McKenzie get on the bus as she plops in the seat next to me.
"Girl you look so cute, who you dressed for?" she smirks at me. I look down and take in my clothes. I had on black skinny jeans and a navy blue t-shirt that said BOW DOWN on it and to top it off I did my brows and eye liner.
"Ain't shit to dress for at Mackely, but its the first day back and I wanted to be cute, you know??" I smile and she rolls her eyes knowing the truth. I got up out of my seat following her off the bus as we reached the school. I did have a crush on one boy but I have a dude and I'm very freakin happy. She thinks I need to get my self to together and experience things and people but I'm okay.
"So you don't have a thing for Donavian? Not even a little bit? I see the way you look at him and he don't even know you like him. Do me a favor and get on that please!" she says as we walk towards the cafeteria and stand in the lunch line.
"Ugh, this school broke and nasty, makes me wonder why I left Zachary." I state changing the subject. She eyed me knowing what I'm doing. "Did you talk to Amber ? You know she's pregnant."
Ken whips around shocked at the news. "Guh what, for who,is she here? I bet its for Darius nasty ass he always stick his shit in something or someone", she laughs. Kenzie's ex Darius is something, she swears he's the worst dude ever in the world and I actually agree with her. I grab a plate of wheat toast, banana, yogurt, and an apple juice pouch; we sit at a table close to the window and watch the people walk past.
"I want Johaji to take me to out to eat and ice skating once he gets his car fixed. Do you want to come with us? We're going to either Leo's and Applebee's or the River Center and Zia's. Sound fun right? I ask munching on my toast. She agrees to come with her new friend.
I tell her bye as the bell rings to go first hour, leaving out the lunch room I spot Don coming my way. I quickly go down th breezeway to avoid him. I don't want to talk to him, I'm at a good, content place in my life after the break. I just want focus on me and mines, and get my shit together before my senior year. I round the corner to head back toward A building before I'm late. In the rush, I run into something hard, I look up to fuss at whoever it is and realize who bumped into. Rolling my eyes at Don, I fix my clothes and hair and go to walk around him. He grabs my arm and goes to apologizes.
"It's okay, I wasn't watching where I was going." I say and go to walk away again.
"I know you saw me heading toward you, I wanted to ask you something." he says and the bell rings and the hallways empty. The principal, Mrs. Simon starts the announcements. I roll my eyes, I have no patiencefor this.
