From the moment I was born, My mother knew I was different by the harsh yellow color of my eyes. I grew up wearing sunglasses to hide my unnatural eye color,I was always faster and stronger than all the other kids my age and because of that, I was under severe scrutiny. I was always picked last for every activity until the end of my seventh grade year, when I finally snapped it was a blur at first the flashing memories felt like a nightmare, the screams the crying the blood. That was when my mother first figured out what I am and always will be. A monster. Several days later it happened in my sleep the memories of my kills haunted my dreams I felt a burning sensation spread throughout my body starting with my gums and teeth, the pain started spreading through my rib cage my finger tips felt rough then I started to hear the blood curdling snap of bones and shortly after a wave of pain surrounded my body. I tried to scream but nothing came out, I thought I was being possessed that's when all my thoughts were plunged into darkness and all I felt was numb.
When I woke up that next morning after the full moon, my room looked like a tornado had stricken it, there were claw marks everywhere my bedsheets were shredded my room was in ruin. Then after several episodes of that my mother decided it was best to pack up our meager belongings and start a new life somewhere else. In this new town everything was fresh, new and exciting. But my mother pulled into the parking lot of a local eye doctor. I looked at my mothers and asked "What are we doing here","we are getting you a pair of colored contacts" She replied. As she stepped out of the car, before I could stop myself I remember blurting out " Mom I-I'm sorry!", With the soft forgiving eyes of a mother she had replied "sorry for what?" And with that she closed the car door. Within a few minutes she returned with several pairs of blue colored contacts. The drive to our new home was deafeningly silent, neither of us said a word. When we arrived we sat in the car for a while and out of nowhere, The tears started streaming down my face and I cried and cried and cried, repeatedly saying "I'm sorry mom, I'm so sorry", She embraced me in a tender, caring hug. When we walked into the small house we sat down on the floor and she told me about how she knew my father was different but she didn't know how different until she saw my first transformation. After that the emotional toll of the day caught up with me and I was fast asleep.
Over the course of several weeks I made a friend, Hannah and for half of that school year we were best friends we felt we could rule the school one day but we were only joking and in eighth grade. The next two years past like a breeze and we were starting our sophomore year in high school. But then the unthinkable happened. It was the night of the full moon, Hannah had come over to check up on me because I said I was sick that day. She brought me the homework for that day so I wouldn't get behind on my studies, it didn't take long for us to get off of topic and over the next hour of laughter and me pretending to have a cold the sun had gone down and I felt the all too familiar burning sensation. I interrupted our conversation "Hannah you should leave it's getting dark out" , "Oh, but Clarissa the night is still young" She protested, this time but more forcefully I said "You don't understand, You need to leave Hannah", "No" she threw back at me. Then it started to happen, the change. My breaths were hard and uneven, She looked at me with concern "Clar? Are you okay?"obviously distressed, I tried to reply but all that came out was a menacing growl. "Clar, what's wrong". Then it started, first The creaking and snapping of bones the tearing of my skin, the searing pain shot it's way through my body. Then I heard it her scream she tried to run to the door but tripped and twisted her ankle, she started crying, my body covered in grey fur, I tried to scream for help but the moon was too strong and my screams turned into a blood chilling howl, then before I knew it, I tasted the warm rush of iron, blood that was all I could see, taste, and smell. Hannah's screams were gurgled then I was plunged into the darkness of my mind. When I awoke I was in my mothers arms covered in Hannah's blood. A lump in my throat formed and my eyes started to sting indicating the rush of tears that would be happening soon. Then the warm rush of tears started flowing down my cheeks. My disheveled auburn hair shaking along with my body as my mother hugged me tighter.
