"Don't get fresh with me kid." He said.
"Look Uncle John, about what I said-"
"If you're about to apologize, I'm warning you, you will lose any shred of respect I have for you." He warned.
"So, what I'm getting from this is that I can stop calling you sir?" I asked hopefully.
"No." he said.
"Oh come on!" I said.
"No!" He said.
"Why not?"
"Because, it shows respect!" He said.
"Maybe when you were a kid but now it just sounds weird."
Uncle John sighed.
"Alright, when it's just you and me you can drop the sir, but when people are around you better pick it back up, understand?" he said.
"I think so." I answered.
"Good." He said.
As we finished up our conversation a nurse came in and checked my IV. Shortly after she left, a doctor with brown hair and bright green eyes came in and read the clipboard that was hanging off the foot of my bed.
"Okay, Destiny. It looks like you're all good to go. All of your vitals are normal, but we're going to keep you here over night for observation." he said
"Thank you Dr..." I started.
"Dr. Philips." he said as he smiled.
"Thank you Dr. Philips, but all I did was cut my hand. I don't understand why I have to stay." I questioned.
"Well, Destiny your cut isn't the problem. In fact all you needed was a few stiches and antibiotics and you would've been good to go, but your arrhythmia is the reason you passed out and we just want to make sure that you're okay and that the problem is under control since you're so young." he said as he continued to smile.
"Oh, okay." I said.
"Alright, I'll be back into check on you in a little bit." he said
With one last smile he left the room and my Uncle started to pack my things.
"Uncle John what are you doing? He said I have to stay overnight." I said.
"You don't have to stay overnight and you're not going to." he answered.
"Uncle John, unless you have a degree in medicine, I suggest you let me stay. If I leave early and my heart acts up then-"
"Then we'll take you back and I'll admit that I was wrong and Dr. Smiley can say I told you so. Now let's go." He said.
"Fine!" I said.
I stepped out of bed being careful to keep the backside of me covered since I was wearing a hospital gown. The second I stepped down from the bed I fell. For some reason I wasn't able to walk or stand. I couldn't even push myself up off the ground.
"Uncle John I can't get up. Can you help me?" I asked.
"Destiny, stop messing around and get up." He said.
"No, Uncle John I seriously can't get up."
"Come on Destiny, up now."
"Uncle John do you really think I take pleasure from laying on a cold, disease infested floor that's covered in dust bunnies. Believe me if I could get up I would."
"Is that attitude I hear?"
"Uncle John, please!" I yelled.
"Alright hold on." he said.
