Darkness surrounded me as my head throbbed painfully with every tick of the clock. The light of my clean white room peirced my eyelids as the door swung open almost silently.
"Miss, its time for your breakfast outside. Its quite lovely and the doctor thinks it will do you some good."
said the nurse. But i did not want to go outside.
"I think it would do you some good to leave me alone." i replied, perhaps a bit rudely.
" Now Miss, the Doctor Renald was very clear that-"
"AND I WAS CLEAR THAT YOU WERE TO LEAVE ME ALONE!" I screached as i bolted up right in my bed. The nurse hurredly bustled out, obviously to get Doctor Renalds. She must have been a new nurse because she seemed to be a bit shaken when she reentered with the Doctor. He spoke to me in a hushed, calm voice but i could'nt make out what he said as i picked i my skin until i drew blood. i felt no pain but the warm liquid run down my wrist. The doctors hand stopped me from continuing to pick my skin and summoned the nurse with a band-aid, my morning pill and a little paper cup filled with orange juice. i took my pill and as it began to kick in, i could only see a fuzzy outline and a sharp center as if i were looking through a cone shaped tunnel. i felt the doctor usher me outside for breakfast but i could'nt feel my legs move as i floated down the corridors leading to a large patio in the back of the hospital, where many other inhabitants sat and ate eggs, bacon and biscuits. i sat at an unoccupied table and waited patiently for my meal.
