It was a quiet winter morning. You couldn't here a sound. I tiptoed down the large stair case with my pink bunny in hand. I was especially excited this morning because my mom always makes pancakes on Sundays. I hop down the stairs and I don't hear anyone. "Mom?" I yell. I turn the corner and I find my entire family murdered. There was shattered glass everywhere. On the wall was written "She Will Rise". I was sent into the foster system and jumped from group home to group home. My name is Koa. It has been 15 years since, I'm 23 now and the murder is still unsolved which is why I work for the San Diego police department. The police told me they had no leads, and that most likely they will never know what happened and that I should just move on. But how can someone move on from their family being murdered and not having any closure. I knew the police were hiding something, so I came to work for them hoping that I would finally get some answers.

Today is a new day and I've got to pull myself out of bed and get ready for work. I put on my classic ripped jeans, a blouse, some healed ankle boots, and my leather jacket. I walked out of my apartment and to the coffee shop around the corner. I got my regular iced coffee and tipped my favorite barista and really my only "friend", James. He was the first person I met when I first moved out here and we have small talk here and there. I don't really have friends, they never understand what I've been through, so I guess you could call me a loner. As I was walking out of the coffee shop This morning I didn't realize my lid wasn't On all the way, and when I accidentally bumped into a woman or should I say a very beautiful woman, I spilled coffee all over myself.

"Shit" I say under my breath.

"No no no, it's my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going," she said trying to help me.

She had these beautiful emerald green eyes that shone bright in the sun, and she had short brunette hair that was shaved on one side.

"Here take my scarf. It will hopefully help hide the coffee stain" she said putting her scarf around me and apologizing again. "Oh and here's my number, so I can help pay the cleaning bill for that shirt" she gave me her number and walked away.

I checked my phone and saw the clock, it read, 8:56. I have work in four minutes. I quickly ran a couple blocks and thankfully got to the station in time.

"Hey George," I said to the man sitting at the front desk.

George was a nice front desk guy. He was kind of husky, but he always had a smile on his face. Every-time we had a station holiday party he was the one to organize it and made sure everyone was happy.

"How's it going Koa?" He said smiling.

"Well other than getting coffe spilled on me this morning, great," I say scanning my badge to get in.

"Awwe. Sorry."

"It's fine because she was damn cute!" I say with a smirk

"Haha. Well I'm glad you saw the bright side of it!" He said waving me into the station

"Koa I need you in my office," yelled my captain, Peterson.

His first name is really Tom, but we call him Peterson because he won't let anyone call him Tom. Peterson is a very tall man. He has a stern voice and is always very uptight. I don't think anyone has ever seen him smile.

"What's up?" I said walking into his office.

"We've got another homicide." He says handing me a case file

"Is there anything new about this one that can help us with the others?" I ask while skimming through the file

"Well this one was once again inside the 6 mile radius like the other 4, so I'm assuming it's the same killer." He says pointing to a map with pins in it marking where kills have been.

"How did this one die?"

"This guy was a bank teller, and the medical examiner's report said he was thrown against a wall and it broke almost every bone in his body, but that seems damn near impossible. Nobody has that kind of strength!" He says stumped

"What the hell could've done that. What has super strength and the intent to murder a bank teller?"

"I have no clue."

"Alright, well I think I'm going head back to my desk and try to sort this out."

"Alright," He says monotone

I got back to my desk trying to figure this out. This would be the 5th kill from the 6 mile killer. We call him the 6 mile killer because all of the kills are with in a 6 mile radius. The strength it took to kill this guy had to have taken at least 10 very strong men. It doesn't make any sense. All the people that the 6 mile killer has killed aren't connected. I mean there's a bank teller, a nurse, a teachers assistant, swim instructor, and a mechanic. None of them are connected except for the way that they are killed. They are all killed by some extreme amount of strength.

Author's Note: I am rewriting some of this story because I wrote it 3 years ago so I'd like to make some adjustments. Here is the revised first chapter. Enjoy!!
