Leaving Shell Cottage

Start from the beginning

"Why didn't they?" he asked

"I don't know." she admitted to her uncle "I think they just didn't get around to it. Wanted to save me for torture later."

"Didn't they torture you?" he gestured to the lingering scars for her burn earlier that day.

"No." Lily sighed "My scars are from being burned in a floo accident." she found no reason to lie on that little fact.

"How many years ago was that?" Bill seemed genuinely interested in getting to know the seventeen year old

"Years?" Lily laughed "More like hours."

"That's how you ended up in Malfoy Manor" Bill had the epiphany.

"Yes." Lily played along.

The sun was setting by the time they ended their talk. Bill showed her to the smallest bedroom. He said she would have to share with Hermione and Luna but they weren't quite ready for bed right then. Lily didn't wait for them do come in. She fell fast asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

When Lily woke up the next morning, she didn't stay long. She stayed for breakfast but after that, she said a quick goodbye to the others at Shell Cottage. Ron, Harry, and Hermione had thankfully, not remembered her true identity by the time she had to leave. That took a weight off her shoulder that she didn't have to erase ant memories. It might affect them later down the road, but it helped her be less conspicuous.

She and Bill walked in silence. Bill had offered to apparate her there, but she wasn't willing, considering the last time. When he suggested Floo, she put her foot down. It was a short walk and it was a nice day. Bill wouldn't let her go alone so he was there too. She didn't know how she was going to explain her family being at the Burrow, but she left that for now. If all else failed she would abandon him at a muggle house and say she was there.

And that's what she did. About three houses down from her intended house, she said thank you to Bill and she turned, pretending to enter the house. He apparated away and that left Lily to continue down the road.

She knocked on the door. She was greeted by a wand in her face. She had expected nothing less.

"Who are you and what year were you born?" Jamie barked

"Lily Luna Potter, born in 2007." Jamie dropped his wand and pulled her into a tight hug. Al joined on and so it was a group hug between all six of them.

"I was afraid you were going to storm the Manor to come save me." she laughed

Jamie scratched the back of his neck. "Er- we kind of were going to." Lily laughed.

"We are so glad you're okay." Harry mumbled as he gave her another hug.

"Thanks dad." Lily mumbled, making Harry blush.

"Where were you? How did you get out?" Ron asked with wide eyes.

"Same way you did." she replied with a sly smile. "House-elf"

"Kreacher got back to you? He came back saying that he couldn't go back because of some sort of spells that temporarily kept him away." Al said

"No, Dobby." Lily said.

"But- if you did that how did we get out? That's why we didn't ask him to help originally." Harry stuttered

"I went with you." Lily admit sheepishly

"So you were at Shell Cottage?" Ron asked. Lily nodded. "How is everyone?" he said eagerly

"Ron," Lily stared at the ginger "You were literally there with me. You should know just as well as I." Ron scratched the back of his neck, nervously.

"Oh, yeah." he gave a pitiful laugh "I forgot." Lily smiled and gave him another hug.

"Ron's made it seem like you were all starving here." she said. Everyone stared at Ron

"And I thought Harry's letter was bad." Ginny rolled her eyes. Everyone laughed again. Lily moved to see what was in the Weasley's fridge. There wasn't much but there was enough that she could whip up a meal for the six of them.

Lily laid out the small platter of sandwiches and chips on the dining table and called the others for the meal.

"Why are we still here?" she asked the question that had been on her mind since Shell Cottage. "We haven't been in one time over twelve hours and we've been here almost twenty four."

"Like Hermione said," Albus mumbled darkly "Out sightseeing trip is over."

They ate the rest of the meal in silence and all piled onto the couches to sleep. For the first time in a while, they felt a little normal. Like a family. Who wasn't traveling through time uncontrollably.

(A/N: Thank you so much for 100+ reads!!! Ahhh!! So exciting! I've never had a story pass 100 (I came close with 99 but it was a really bad story and had 50 parts) I know I said I probably couldn't update today, but I had some downtime and I felt like writing, so I did. I actually messed up with the chapters where I added onto the last chapter because I forgot I uploaded it already but I fixed it after like 20 minutes. I am very sorry for any mistakes in this chapter. I wrote it mostly on my phone and it's harder for me to catch typos and all that. I might go back and reread it later but I can't be bothered right now. Merry Christmas for about the millionth time! -Jul)
