AN: The core four are now sophomores in high school. Riley and Lucas are well Riley and Lucas. Maya and Farkle...well see about them.
Riley's pov
Maya, Farkle, Lucas and I start are Sophomore year today. The Summer after Freshman year my family and I went back to Texas so my family can meet Lucas' family. My dad and Pappy Joe hit it off. Pappy Joe would tell my dad stories about Lucas when he was younger stories that I've already heard and that I love. (flashback to Texas)
One day Lucas and I took Auggie on a horse back ride. He absolutely loved it. He loved seeing the farm and the land, but most importantly Auggie loved this time with Lucas and I. We got back to horse stables and Lucas showed Auggie the pony he helped deliever. I stood in back and watched Auggie and Lucas bond over this, watch the way they interact with each other, the way he treats Auggie. He's gonna be an amazing father one day. As I'm watching Lucas with Auggie I'm falling more in love with Lucas.
As the day turns to night Lucas and I take Auggie back in the house and we watch Auggie tell my parents and Pappy Joe what Lucas and I showed him today. They sat and listened to everything Auggie had to say. I was brought out of my thoughts when Lucas grabbed my hand took me back outside. We talked out to the pond. We stopped. I looked up at him.
"Lucas, what are we doing out here? We should go back inside before my dad sends the swat team to look for me." Lucas chuckled. Why is he laughing?
"Riley, your dad knows we are out here. I talked to him about on the plane." Lucas said. I was looking at him confused. We stood there just looking into each others eyes enjoying this moment. It started to rain, I started to run back inside but Lucas grabbed my wrist and pulled me in closer to him. The next I knew he was kissing me.(I know cliche right) but it didn't matter it was perfect to us. After the kiss we ran inside to put on dry clothes. 2 days later we left Texas.
(flashback over)
We got back to New York and everything was different between the 4 of us. Lucas and I and Maya and Farkle.
I went to school this morning. Maya and Farkle were happy and whispering some thing like they didn't want Lucas and I to know. Since the kiss in Texas Lucas and I have barely talked we're so distant. Maya and Farkle walk up.
"Hey Riley" Maya and Farkle say in unison.
"Hey guys. How are you?"
"Good. Where's Ranger Rick? We have something to tell you both and we want you both here." Maya said.
"On the way I guess. I don't know. I haven't talked to him in 2 days." Maya and Farkle look at each other confused.
"What happened." Farkle asked.
"When we were in Texas, Lucas and I kissed in the rain. It was everything I excepted it to be, but ever since we've been back we've been distant. We've changed." I said. We aren't the Riley and Lucas we were before we left, were hi hey Riley and Lucas. Lucas is one of my favorite people. He's one of my best friends. I was getting my history book out when I saw Lucas walk up to us. He looks at me.
"Hey" I said.
"Hi" he said. "Can I talk to you after school? It's important."
"Yeah. What's it about?"
'You'll see. Like I said its important."
I knew what he wanted to talk about. We need to have this conversion but I'm not ready for it. The bell rings for us to go to class. I walk in my dads class and sit down. Lost in my train of thoughts I didn't hear the bell ring. I walk out into the hall to get my stuff and go to my moms bakery to get a smoothie then wait for Lucas to show up.
~30 minutes later~
Sitting on my bed doing my homework. I hear a knock on my window I look up and it's Lucas. I go open to let him in.
"Hey." Lucas said
"Hi." Lucas sits on my bay window and I sit on my bed. Minutes have passed and nothing was said. Just silence.
"Lucas" well we have to start somewhere right.
"Riley, We can't pretend like that kiss didn't happen. It did. You and I both know it meant something and we both felt something. Everything has changed. Nothing is the same anymore." He's right everything has changed.
"I know we can't pretend like it didn't happen."
"Then what do we do Riley?"
"I don't know. I'm scared."
"Of what?" This is it. Here It goes.
"I'm scared of losing you, Lucas. This isn't easy. Prove to me that what we are feeling is real. Prove to me that the love we have for each other is real. Prove to me that this relationship is worth the risk of losing our friendship, Lucas because I don't want that."
"Okay, you want me to prove all that then I will. You don't think this scares me too because trust me Riley it does. These feelings were are real. Everything about taking our friendship to next level scares me. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. That's what scares me most is one day probably losing you."
"L-Lucas I didn't know-" I couldn't even finish what I was saying before I kissed him I didn't want to talk. After what he said I couldn't talk. The kiss lasted a good minute. I heard footsteps and I didn't care. The door opened and it was Auggie.
"Hey Riley. Can I? Ohh Nevermind." Lucas and I stopped kissing and we both laughed.
"Yes, Auggie. What did you need?"
"I was wondering if I can hang out with you since it's Friday night.
"Yes Auggie you can. We can go to the movies."
"Can Lucas come?" Auggie asked. I looked at Lucas and I looked back at Auggie.
"Absolutely." I loved seeing the bond between Lucas and Auggie. Its one of my favorite things.
"Lucas, what are we?"
"Are we boyfriend and girlfriend? That famous question that was asked back in 8th grade. "Yes." I looked him in the eyes and I saw him reaching for my hand and interlocking it with his. Just as Lucas, Auggie and I get ready to leave I get a text from telling me to meant at my moms bakery. When get Farkle and Maya are holding hands.
"Riley, Farkle and I something we have to tell you. Farkle and I are officially boyfriend and girlfriend."
"Oh that's awesome because so are Lucas and I."
We all stare at each other because this is a new era for all of us. This is new, exciting, scary. I know that we'll be fine but I also know that we'll have problems along the way. Lucas and I look at each other. Lucas grabs Auggies hand and we go to the movies. These relationships won't be easy but I know they're worth it.
A/N: I hope you like this. I wanted too add Lucas and Auggie because the writers don't give us enough of Lucas and Auggie. I have an idea for my next one shot but I don't know when I'll write it.
