~Ines' POV~
"Watch your guard, Nez."
"I always watch my guard, shut up and fight already," I say annoyed.
"Sure you do." And just like that, I was on the floor. Again. My butt had gone numb, I'd fallen on it so many times. Connor just laughed at me, he's such a gentleman. I rolled my eyes at him but he just grinned and helped me up.
"You sure you want to keep going?"
"Yes! This isn't over yet." He grinned at me once more and I got ready for his attack. He kept changing his tactics and I kept falling for it, silly me I guess.
We began to circle each other and he suddenly pounced at me, but this time, unlike others, I moved left and stuck my foot out. But being Connor he managed to dodge my foot and soon we were circling each other again.
"You know we're having meatballs for dinner?" I said. I'd seen it on the board earlier.
"Mmm, meatballs."
"I think I like meatballs better than bolognaise..." He tried to grab my arm and take me down but I dodged and kicked him in the leg. "I mean bolognaise is nice, but it kind of annoys me."
"Really?" He asked me, going for a punch that I blocked. "I like bolognaise better, you always get meat when you eat the pasta."
"Of course you want the meat." For the whole holidays, he hadn't shut up about how we should all eat protein and how I was too light. Bitch, I should be lighter, not heavier.
"There's nothing wrong with wanting to eat meat." He laughed, and this time he lunged at me and caught me off guard so I was flat on my arse on the sparring mat with him lying on top of me.
"I think its meatball time," I said, he just smiled at me, and then leant closer so I could feel his breath on my nose.
"Ew!" Someone shouted from the doorway. He slowly got off me and I could see Lily staring at us. "Didn't anyone tell you those mats are for sparring?"
"I think you did like a hundred times Lily."
"Whatever, its dinner now, we'll save you a seat?"
"Yeah, see you then," I replied as she left the room. Connor smiled and me and kissed me quickly before we turned off the light and left the dojo. Mmm, meatballs.
The dining room was filled with third day back chatter, everyone was still talking about their summer holidays, their hookups and Christmas presents and awkward situations with attractive people.
"How was sparring?" Jack asked as we sat in our usual spots at our usual table with all our usual friends. Gotta love routines.
"I kicked her arse." Connor laughed.
"Hey, no hate, I did not work out this summer ok? I am not at my peak physical fitness." They all laughed at me and I ate some meatballs. Oh, the food here is amazing. I think that's what I missed the most over the break, having food pre-cooked and delicious. Em and Rhys walked over to our table, fingers entwined and sat next to each other.
"Hey, so," I started, I wanted to ask something that had been bothering me for the whole holidays and part of last year too. "What's the drill this year? Is this our last year here or what? Do we go to university next year?"
"Well, technically we finish high school, but we still have, its either one or two more years here, doing training and stuff like that, we still do a lot of studying and have classes, but it's like you can choose everything you take. Apparently this year is crazy intense, and then it gets more laid back." Awkward, I thought last year was intense.
"And here's me thinking last year was intense," Jack said. Twin minds.
"Did you drop French Jack?" I asked.
"Yeah, I finally realised that I'd get a higher mark for taking another course than if I failed French this year."
"Mum will be pleased," I grinned sarcastically, he just gave me a look then started at his pasta. Already the pile of exercises and questions to complete from various teachers was growing. I had maths questions I had to answer, some French worksheet and I think I may have promised my Biology teacher I'd do another set of extra questions on cell reproduction. And I have to go for a run and do some work in the gym, my stomach has become an unbearable sight. Oh, and I have to spend some time with my boyfriend, bloody hell. I am a busy person.
"What are you thinking about?" Connor asked me quietly. "You've stopped eating."
"How busy my schedule has suddenly become."
"Hope I'm in there somewhere." He smiled at me and even though it was like the thousandth time he'd smiled at me, I still melted.
"How could you not be?" He leant closer to me, and we kissed for a while until everyone started yelling at us and threatening to throw pasta at us. Such fun.
