Sleep with you? No thanks

He came at me with a wild look in his eyes. They weren't the amazing honey color that I loved so much, they were black. I started running as fast as I could but he was right behind me, shouting at me. "BROOKLYN! DO NOT RUN AWAY FROM ME! THERE'S NO ONE WHO CAN HELP YOU AND THERE'S NO WHERE TO RUN WHERE I CAN'T FIND YOU!" I kept running and running without looking behind when all of a sudden.. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

I woke up in a cold sweat "It was just a dream. Just a dream." I muttered to myself as I glanced at my alarm clock. It read 6:00 a.m. all I wanted was to go back to sleep but that wasn't about to happen with the dream I just had. I groggily got out of bed and went into the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror looking at myself remembering where each of the bruises and cuts were. They were all healed now but the memory will forever be engraved in my mind. Shaking my head from the memories I turned the hot water on in the shower and got in. After about 20 minutes I felt fresh and new.

I ran over to my closet and picked out a simple short sleeved dress that went down to mid-thigh and matched it with some black heels. I let my hair air dry, making it wavy and applied some make up. I grabbed my bag and cell phone made my way downstairs where my family was eating breakfast.

"Hey booger." I said as I ruffled my 15 year old brother Joey's hair. "MOM she did it again!" he whined.

"Brooklyn stop messing up your brother's hair he spent all morning on it." My mother said as I walked over to her and my father kissing both of them on their cheeks.

"Sorry squirt!" I laughed as I grabbed an apple and headed outside to my friend Charlie's car.

"Charles!" I yelled as I got into the passenger's seat.

"Stop calling me that!" he looked slightly angered yet with an amused expression. Charlie was the definition of cute. His shaggy brown hair fell covering his forehead. He had a habit of pushing it back to reveal his light blue eyes. He'd been playing football since he was young and was captain of our high school's team. All the girls drooled over his muscular body. With both of his parents being doctors he owned a nice car that he constantly fusses over. We've been best friends since he shared his lunch with me on the first day of kindergarten when the class bully threw mine on the floor.

"How's it hanging Brookie?" he asked me smiling while pulling out of my driveway.

"I'm okay. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. I keep having bad dreams." He looked at me with sadness in his eyes.

He grabbed my arm trying to comfort me, "Nothing's gonna happen Brookie. I promise." The rest of the ride was quiet. I don't know what Charlie was thinking about but I was trying to put everything out of my head and cheer myself up.

We got to school and parked in our usual parking spot in the front. I looked next to us and noticed it was one of those crotch rocket motorcycle things. I rolled my eyes at it. "Those things are a death trap."

"Brooklyn!!" I heard a high voice yell. Laughing I ran to my other best friend Chloe Sullivan and dramatically we threw our arms around each other. "Ahh I haven't seen you since like yesterday!"

"I know! Never leave me for that long again." I pouted my bottom lip.

"You guys are idiots." Charlie laughed coming up to us and putting his arm around our shoulders .

"Shut up Charles." Chloe said while Charlie growled. "Anyways, did you hear Jai Trager's back?"

I gave her a questioning look "It's not a big deal. He was in juvie for assault. It's not like he killed someone."

"He's still dangerous though." I rolled my eyes at that comment. "Who cares. I don't believe in stupid stereotypical bullshit rumors. People change. I gotta go to class I'll see you guys at lunch." I waved to them as I walked to my 1st period. I took my seat in the back of the room by myself. It was Algebra and I was good at it so I usually slept through it, while still managing to make straight A's. I didn't have any friends in the class so I just sat by myself.

At least I had my favorite teacher, Mrs. Strand, first. She was a fairly young teacher, only 22, but she was brilliant. She was out of college before she was 20, and landed the job as a new math teacher here easily. She was pretty short and blonde, and since she was young, people connected easily with her. It was a blessing to have her first thing in the morning. Today, however, I could tell there was gonna be trouble.

The bell rang and Mrs. Strand walked in with a guy I didn't recognize. "Okay guys; listen up. This is Jai Trager. He's gonna be joining our class for the rest of the year. Jai, it looks like the only seat left is in the back next to Brooklyn, so why don't you take your bag and get set up back there." She smiled while handing him a book.

I took a good look at Jai, and honestly I couldn't complain about the view. He had dark brown hair that was styled with a longer top and shorter sides. His face had rugged features and a strong chin. You could see from the tight black shirt and bulging muscles that he worked out. He was wearing a pair of dark wash jeans that were on the skinnier side around the middle of his butt showing his black boxers. To keep his pants up, he was wearing a black studded belt with matching black earrings. I looked around the classroom and noticed a few girls fawning over Jai and whispering to their friends while others were shooting me death glares. The guys, however, looked scared. I rolled my eyes at them and laid my head on my desk while trying to get comfortable. I heard footsteps come closer until the chair next to mine slid out and someone sit down.

About 10 minutes into class, I felt someone poke my side; bringing me out of my half-sleep state. I looked up, ready to tell someone off when I noticed it was Jai. He had a smirk plastered on his angel-like face. Angel-like...what?

"Hey babe. How's it going?" he asked.

I scoffed, "Hey babe? How cheesy are you?" I deadpanned, "Get a different pick up line. Now if you'll excuse me, you're ruining my nap," I said as I laid my head back down on my desk and closed my eyes.

"Ooo feisty." He smirked once again. "I like it." I groaned and turned my head the opposite way.

"Please tell me you're not some pampas jerk who thinks he's better than everyone else and sleeps with anything that walks? You'd just be proving the stereotype of a bad boy that the media has created. Oh, and if you're looking to sleep with me? My legs aren't Wal-Mart. They aren't open 24/7. So you can find someone else." I don't know what it was about this kid, but he pissed me off. Just the way he carried himself didn't sit well with me and I didn't want to be anywhere near him.

"Sleep with you? Oh sorry to disappoint you, hun, but I don't sleep with ratchets. I actually have standards." I stared at him shocked. "Babe, it's unattractive to have your mouth wide open. You're catching flies." I snapped my mouth shut and turned away from him, my cheeks burning from embarrassment.

Luckily, Mrs. Strand started passing back the tests we had taken last week, so I wouldn't have to talk to Jai any longer. And as always, I got an A. "Nice job, Brooklyn. Never gotten anything lower than an A." She smiled at me while turning to give other kids back their tests.

"Ahh, that explains it," I heard from beside me.

I turned to Jai with a questioned look. "Explains what?"

"You're a nerd! That's why you blew me off so fast! I thought I had just lost my charm." He said as he dusted the invisible dirt off his shoulders.

I was just about to respond when the bell rang; signaling the end of class. Finally ready to get away from this asshole, I picked my books up and ran out of the room to my locker. If luck went my way, I wouldn't have to see Jai Trager for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, I could be rather unlucky.

This is my first book and I didn't really pay attention to editing errors. I would really like feedback to know if it's okay or not. It may start out a little cliché but I promise you'll never see the twist that I have planned.
