It was a laid-back evening that night. Paige and I were lounging on the sofa and watching a horror movie. It was one of those Friday nights that weren't hectic and you could just enjoy.

"No, no, no! Don't go in there!!" I screamed at the screen. I had a habit of doing that during horror movies. After the character went in and got her head chopped off, I could resist saying, "You see?! Told you not to go in there!"

Paige laughed and I laughed with her. "You know it's just a movie and they can't hear you right?"

I shrugged, "It's the thought that counts."

We laughed it off and turned our attention back to the TV. The last girl living from the teenage group of girls had made it home. She quickly got inside and locked her front door and slowly tip-toed through her own house as she was trying to listen carefully for any life in the house. When she turned around she saw the curtain move a bit. Startled, she took one step back but then slowly made her way to the curtain. She grabbed hold of it. Her arms were shaking. She quickly pulled the curtain.

My cell phone rang and Paige and I started screaming uncontrollably, until we realised we were idiots and started laughing at each other.

"You idiot." I said to her as I stretched over to get my phone.

"You were screaming like a girl!!" she exclaimed.

"I am a girl therefore it's okay. I should be worried about you because you were screaming like a guy." I quickly said as I pressed to answer my phone.

Paige kicked me and I let out a small yelp into the phone.

"Catherine?" I heard a familiar voice say.

I quickly pulled the phone away when I realised that I hadn't checked the caller ID. I didn't recognize the number, "Who is this?"

        "It's me Nick, you o-"

I broke him off, "Nick? How did you get my number?"

"From Paige, I hope that's okay." He said. His voice sounded even more husky and attractive than it did in real life.

"Paige gave you my number huh?" I said as I turned to Paige and gave her the 'oh no you didn't look'. She just shrugged and smiled, also remembering that I had forgotten to add his number to my contacts the day he had given it to me, "its fine. No worries."

"You okay? You sort of greeted me with a scream..."

"It wasn't a scream, it was more like a squeak and it's because your BFF, Paige," I turned to look at her and purposely dragged out the pronunciation of her name, "kicked me in the shin."

"Listen, I'd really like for us to meet and talk. I can't talk long now."

"Today? It's already late." My eyes went to the clock that was hung on the wall. My heart started racing as I ran through possible reasons on why Nick would want to speak to me.

He chuckled, "Obviously not today. Tomorrow maybe?"

I hesitated while trying to think about any other possible plans I had for the next day, "Okay, that's fine."

"I'll text you the details later. Bye"

Nick hung the phone up hastily which didn't give me enough time to say goodbye to him, I ended up whispering into the receiver in spite, "Bye to you too."
