Justin's POV

My hair continued to fall in front of my eyes, almost as if it was reminding me that I was desperately in need of a haircut, as I sauntered down the lonesome hallways to History class. It was always my least favorite subject because I hated the thought of learning about something that had already happened. Shouldn't we be focusing on the present and how to positively impact the future? I knew I was late, but the teacher was beyond used to me doing the bare minimum and showing close to no initiative anyway.

"Bieberrrrr," One of my friends hollered, standing up to applaud me for yet another mistake I had made in that class.

"Sit down Brody," My teacher warned, giving me an intimidating glare.  "You know the rules Justin...showing up late to a class over five times results in a visit to the principal."

I rolled my eyes and immediately spun around to exit the room without saying a single word. Things like this always happened to me, so it wasn't a secret that Principal Michaels and I were on a first name basis by now. My hair continued to get in the way of me seeing everything, which caused me to pull out a snapback from my backpack and brush my hair out of my face before placing it on.

The sound of footsteps suddenly started to sound closer and closer as I turned into the next corridor and just barely spotted what appeared to be an unfamiliar face. A girl with beautiful emerald eyes squinted at me from the other end of the hallway as she continued to approach me curiously. Her black wavy hair flowed past her shoulders at a perfect length and the way she looked at me drove me crazy, but I'm not sure if it meant anything to her. The corners of my mouth curved into a small smile while she just stared at me blankly.

"Hey," I whispered shyly as we passed each other.

She fixed her crop top and lifted up her high waisted jeans ever so slightly before finally locking her eyes on mine mysteriously.

"Hi."

I glanced down at the ground nervously before looking back up to realize she was already gone.

Lauren's POV

Encounters with strangers were one of the most difficult things for me. My anxiety made it hard for me to maintain a simple conversation without worrying that I would say something wrong. I had never seen that boy before, but I knew I just had to tell my friends about him as soon as school ended. I hurried back to class and tried my best to erase what had just happened for my own sake.

"Ten minutes in the bathroom?" My science teacher shook her head. "Don't make me take away this privilege Lauren."

I nodded simply and continued walking to my seat as my peers giggled or whispered under their breath. Most of the kids at my school made me want to move to an abandoned island, but my online friends and few trusted friends gave me hope for humanity.

---

"Please pass me the blunt," I sighed. "It's been a rough day."

I grabbed the all to familiar substance from my friend Alexa and breathed it in before handing it off to someone else. My friends and I would hangout in my best friend's barn outside her house and get completely wasted or high off our asses because we honestly had nothing better to do.

"What happened Laur?" My other friend Brittney asked, she was the type of friend that made sure you were ok even if there was nothing visibly wrong.

"I just ran into this guy in the hallway...and I acted like an idiot," I admitted bashfully. "Instead of introducing myself when he approached me, I just ran away."

"Lauren!" Alexa stood up, already feeling a little disoriented from the pot. "Do you have a new crush we should know about?!"

The rest of my friends shrieked and squealed in anticipation of what I was going to say, but I'm not sure it was exactly what they wanted to hear.

"I don't know how I could like him if I don't even know his name..."
