UPDATE: 22.01.14: Everything in this "book" is the old versions of a story I was working on when a younger teen. I have since deserted nearly everything about this story except the characters and a few basic plot points. What I didn't desert, plus a whole bunch of newer points, is now being written under the title "The Blood of a Human, The Blood of a Dragon". You can find this on my profile, and I would suggest you read it first. Thank you. :)

Dedication goes to @puppluv for the lovely and encouraging comments on part 1

To be honest, I was shaking as I wrote this XD my fingers were kinda flying across the keyboard with excitment as the scene in my mind suddenly emerged into words before my eyes.

Dragon's Tooth: Chapter Two: Part Two of Four

Laughter flooded out onto the dirt street, the light from the windows dancing with the man’s voice. Chairs scraped against wood, then seconds later a door creaked open, the light spilling onto the street blocked suddenly by the tall figure of a man. His hair was tussled, and his eyes shone. His hand never leaving the door handle, he turned back to look inside.

“You comin’, Marian?” He called, his sun tanned arms flexing slightly as he swung the door impatiently.

“Yes John!” A woman’s voice called back from behind the man. The shadow of a woman grew behind the man, the baby on her hip distorting her side slightly. “I just had to put something warm on the baby,” the woman’s voice explained cheerily, the baby kicking excitedly at the mention of itself. The woman’s hair blew gently across her face as the man closed the door behind them. Taking the woman’s hand, the man pointed at the sky.

“See thart, Marian?” He whispered, waving at the stars.

“Yes John, I see it,” the woman whispered back.

“Them’s stars, Marian. REAL stars, in a real sky, above real dirt, for real people.”

“They’re beautiful John, just – beautiful,” The woman gasped suddenly in excitement. “John! Look! A shooting star! But, but wait. It’s growing bigger, and-“ Fear crept over the woman’s face as her eyes locked on the growing orb above them. The man’s grip tightened on the woman’s hand.

“Marian it’s gettin’ closer! Get in the house, quick!” Dropping the man’s hand, the woman’s body turned hurriedly, her feet moving beneath her, her eyes transfixed on the growing ball of light above her.

Roaring suddenly filling the air, waves of heat radiating from the light. Grabbing his wife, the man threw both her and the baby to the ground, a ball of fire hurtling inches above mother and child’s head.
