Alan POV
I found my self searching for Kate for the next two days. It was killing me that I couldn't find her. It wasn't until the Friday of the week she went missing that I suddenly thought of a place she could be.
After school on Friday I remembered that she once told me that she loved going to Sunnyside park and climbing on the bars. I hoisted my guitar bag on to my back and ran on to Kate's bus before sitting down next to Joanna.
"Hey Alan, what are you doing?" She asked with a furrowed brow
"I know where Kate is!" I practically yelled out of nerves and excitement
"Where?" Joanna exclaimed
"I need to do this myself. I know how to get her out." I said determinedly
"Okay but if you don't get her to leave call me." She replied with the same determined look.
I ran off of the bus when we reached the village; I went straight to the park, adjusting my guitar strap on the way. I could feel nerves building up in the pit of my stomach. I reached the park in record time and found Kate where I expected to find her. Under the climbing frame. I slowly sat next to her.
"You found me then." Kate whispered so I had to strain my ears to hear her.
"I'm sorry it took so long." I whispered back as she looked into my eyes
"I didn't think anyone would care enough." She looked down at her hands
"I'll always care." I replied as I stared at her with care and concern in my eyes
"He broke my heart Alan." She started to sob as a pulled her into my arms
"He broke it off with you so he wasn't leading you on. He still cares about you but as a friend." I told her while rubbing her back.
"He didn't even explain why. All he said was that was a bad boyfriend and he didn't deserve me. I don't understand." Kate continued to sobbed as I continued to hold her. "What's even worse is that I have to watch my friends be in happy relationships. I thought I could handle it. I can't."
"You're not the only one that isn't in a happy relationship." I replied as she looked up at me. I wiped the tears off of her face with my thumb.
"Who else isn't?" She asked with watery eyes
"Me." I replied as I grabbed my guitar and started to sing to her. I sang one of my favourite songs. I'll be your man.
As I finished singing Kate pulled me into a hug and kissed my cheek.
"Thank you." She said "I needed that."
"Will you be my girlfriend." I asked hopefully
"I don't want you to pity me." She replied
"Trust me I'm not asking you out of pity." I replied truthfully
"Then I'd love to be your girlfriend." She smiled
"Great, now let's get you home and call Joanna before she comes looking for us." I laughed
