Opening the door the babies screams loudened but I got in and shut it quickly. It looked as if Angus had woken up first because he was standing in his crib and screaming while Isis was just sitting up and sobbing. I sighed and got to Angus first since he was loudest and picked him up, bouncing him to calm him down. It took a minute but eventually he was calm enough to be placed down so I went to Isis and just hugged her and she was better. I smiled and held her in my left arm and then I moved to Angus and took him in my right arm then went to the rocking chair, grabbed two bottles, and sat down with them both. Each of them now holding their own bottles and drinking, I calmed down myself.
I always think nowadays, especially of how more developed these babies were compared to some others that I've seen. In the old times I heard that babies didn't stand or walk about until they were at least a year old! Angus has only been walking about for a week now. I guess humans now are just faster at developing... I rolled my eyes at myself and thought of other things as the babies kept drinking. I'm still trying to make my flying machine to get me away from here but Milo has had me busy with the twins to be able to go up into the clock for more gears and screws.
That's when my thoughts were interrupted with a loud Crash! Slam! and I was met with a set of eyes starring at me from the door. It was still dark, I hadn't turned on a light before, and the only light was from the full moon and the twins night-lights. Where I was and where this person was, there was only darkness, well, except for their eyes. Their eyes seemed to glow, a golden glimmer in the dark. I took a deep breath and carefully set the twins down so that they don't make a noise and I got up from the rocking chair, keeping the two behind me. I looked to the corner as the person tried to catch their breath and saw what I needed.
My gear belt.
An air freshener bottle (To stop the smelly diaper smell)
And....
My lovely "toy" frying pan that I hid a real pan inside (The kids liked playing house, what can I say?)
Oh the joys of being an inventor!
I grabbed the items and held them close as I walked through the shadows to reach the intruder. I wrapped the belt around my hand and put it into position to whip it, the air freshener was in my pocket in case I needed it extra, and my frying pan (now out of its toy casing) was in my hand and ready to whack him. The person was now calmed down and was about to sit down when I whacked him upside the head with the pan, and with a groan he fell to the ground. I flipped the light on, still gripping the pan, and bit my lip to stop myself from laughing as the twins were doing now. Sick little bastards they are. I smirked at them as their laughter died down and then looked carefully at the man. He was about my age, at most sixteen or seventeen, with dark dark brown hair. I used my frying pan handle and flipped him onto his back, crouching down beside him.
Then he moved.
And he was knocked out again by my frying pan.
More children laughing.
I groaned and began to drag him over to the rocking chair and dropped him at the edge of it. I picked up Angus and Isis then placed them over in one of the cradels so they could be closer together. They watched curiously as I dragged the boy onto the chair and used the belt to tie him to it, at least...I tied one of his arms to it. I saw a few more belts in another corner (the twins like belts to play with) and tied his other arm and his legs to the chair, as well as the top of his head.
Soon enough his eyes began to flutter open and I decided to take this chance and examine them. His eyes really were golden, but they also had a weird look to them. I got closer and saw...well, time in his eyes! I yipped in excitment and looked more carefully. His eyes seemed to tick and gears shifted through his irises.
"What...the...hell?" he moaned and moved his neck around, testing it out. I could just hear the gears in him twisting.
I grinned and didn't answer, that is until I remembered that this boy just broke into my house... I shook myself out of my trance and looked at him once more, holding the bottle of air freshener to his face. I had ditched the pan for now.
"Who are you and why are you in my house?" I demanded. He shook his head, a little bit of rust popped from his ear.
"Decided to go for my nightly walk through a stranger's house. Do you walk? You should try it, it's actually quite fun." He said cockily and smirked at me. I sneered.
"Really, why are you here?" I asked him once more.
He sighed. "Isn't it obvious? I was running from some people trying to... to uhm... kidnap me, sorry my memory isn't working very well."
"But why would you come to my house?" I asked.
"I dunno, I just got into the first one I saw, now if you would please let me out of these bloody...uhm belts, then I'll be on my way." he answered. I rolled my eyes.
"Not going to happen, I'm waiting until my brother and his husband get back to figure out what to do with you." I retorted simply. He sneered at me and tried to wiggle out of the belts but he couldn't get it. I examined him more, his eyes were clocks but they weren't the only things made with gears. His ears had clockwork on them, I assumed them to be there to help him hear. His tophat had gears on it as well as goggles made with gears. His attire made him look very regal but I knew that he wasn't a human as I was.
This boy was absolutely a Tempus Viventibus. Living Time. A living creature made from clocks and gears and can travel through time. He was my chance in getting far away from this place. Far away from the new Age of Gears and Rust.
