Sage is back...

"Clark, sweety are you alright?" I heard Monica asked, bringing me back to reality. I gave her a small smile and nodded.

"Yeah... I'm just starting to feel the effects of the jager bombs that's all." I said. While she nodded in understanding, I could tell that she did not buy my excuse one bit. After all, I have never been drunk in a long time.

"Okay." she replied. "Maybe we should not go to Tony's then. I am also quite tired and my feet are hurting. I feel like they wanna run away after the torture I've put them through tonight." she added, motioning to her feet who are adored by a pair off strappy black five inch stilettos covered in spikes.

"But I already promised my team that I am gonna be there." I argued. "You know Director Stark is on my case for not being closer to my team on more personal level." She let out a sigh, clearly annoyed. After all, we both know the real reason why I want to go. Whether I admit it to myself or not.

"Fine. But I will not be able to join you. My flight leaves early tomorrow. Just be sure you're back before so you can drop me off" she instructed before kissing me on the lips.

"I though you're never gonna show, boss!" Tony said as he let me in

I did not go as soon as I walked Monica to our room. I felt bad that I was going to leave her in the room as it is so I decided to wait until she was asleep before making my way out.

"Wife's in town... You know how it is" I replied as I accepted the bottle of beer he just handed me.

"Actually, I don't. I'm single, remember?" he replied good-naturedly. "But maybe Brad could relate, Sage is here after all."

"I heard..." I murmured before joining the others at the balcony. There I found Brad sitting on a bench with Sage. Both of them wrapped in a blanket.

"Boss!" everyone greeted.

Well, almost everyone. Luke and Jean just shared a look before their eyes bounced from me to Brad. The last, not looking too amused. I could understand his animosity though. It was my faukt after all. I did things that, while I can't say I regret, did hurt quite a lot of people due to my selfishness. Thinking back, I guess I could have approached the situation a lot better.

"How are you guys doing?" I asked, trying hard to hide the pain and awkwardness I am feeling. "Sage," I can not help but pause after seeing the way she flinched when I said her name. I knew it, she still have not forgiven me. "welcome back!" I finished, sounding as normal as I could. Not even looking at the subject of my welcome since I can not bear to see Brad wrap her with his arms even more tighter.

"Thanks..." she said. I knew she was just trying to be polite, being the good person she is. "Sir." I almost choke on my drink. She have not addressed me in such a way before, or anyone for that matter. For her, that term is only for those who are unreacheable in the hierarchy. Am I that unapproacheable to her now? I guess this is what I get for pushing her away. It's my fault... All of it...
