Victoria's POV

We were all nervous on Monday morning. Hope, Zoey, and I all tried to look our best. We wanted to make sure that Nate, Noah, and Ethan would notice us. Hope and I went for a girly look, while Zoey went for a sexier look. Hope was the only one who shared classes with her guy, so she had it a lot easier. I, on the other hand, would have to talk to Nate at lunch. I spent all of English class trying to figure out what to say.

The bell rang at exactly noon. I was the first to leave the classroom. I hurried to the bathroom to reapply my makeup and brush my hair. Once I got it to be perfect, I walked to the noisy cafeteria as calmly as I could. I didn't know why I was internally freaking out. After all, I wasn't asking him to marry me. I just wanted his number.

He was sitting with all his friends, and no girls were in sight. I took a seat next to Nate.

"Hey," I said.

"What's up?" he replied, taking a bite of his chicken strips. "How's it going?"

The entire table was looking at me in interest.

"It's going pretty good," I answered, grinning. "But I could be better if you gave me your number."

Did I just say that?

Nate's friends were all good guys, but that didn't stop them from snickering loudly.

Nate smiled. "That's fine by me."

He grabbed a pen and a piece of crumpled paper from his backpack. He wrote it down for me.

"I'll see you around?" He handed it to me.

"Yeah," I replied. "You will."

I stood up, beaming. I scanned the cafeteria to find Hope and Zoey. They were staring at me, and I knew that they could tell that I was successful. I speed-walked happily to their table. "I got it!" I exclaimed, waving the paper around triumphantly.

My two best friends clapped for me while I took a bow. Then I turned to Zoey. "Okay, girl. Now it's your turn. Don't mess it up," I warned, laughing.

Zoey stood up, determination in her eyes. "Don't worry. I know EXACTLY what I'm doing."
