More Than Words

There are things we all want

Things that we seek

It feels like you're the only one

And you begin to fall weak

No one else knows the pain

No one else even seems to care

And soon enough that ache begins to strain

And it begins to rip and tear

Faith seems to be hanging by a thread

The once bright room reduced to black

As the small fear soon turns to dread

You realize that there's no going back

Why do you feel the crushing weight and no one else?

This fight isn't meant for just you

The fear and agony are more than you've ever felt

So why does it seem like it's nothing new?

Words are not enough, I know

They won't fix anything on their own

But with something else they can grow

And the brightness can once again be shown

A/N: This poem is dedicated to a very important person in my life who does more than they'll ever know. As I was talking to them recently, they told me just what they were going through and I felt bad that there was little I could actually do for them. While short, I figured that I would write this for them kind of as a prayer. I hope that sooner or later they'll be able to truly smile once more.
