"Will do, sir," Rebecca said.

"Thank you." He said and walked away.

"Dr. McPhee, the museum director," Rebecca said informing Larry.

" Seems like a fun guy," Larry said sarcastically.

" Control your young, please. Can we?" Dr. McPhee said to the family as Rebecca and Larry walked away. Rebecca lead Larry to the security office and to the door and left him alone. He then rang the bell that was sitting on the ledge.

"Hello?" A man with white hair opened the door. "Just kidding."

"Hi. I'm Larry Daley. Are you Mr. Fredricks?" Larry asked.

"Mr. Fredricks was my father. I am Cecil. Good to meet you, Larry." Cecil said shaking Larry's hand. "Nice firm handshake. I like that. Tells a lot about a man. Come on in." Cecil opened the door to let Larry inside the office." Let's talk turkey here. The museum is losing money, hand over fist. I guess kids today don't care about wax figures or stuffed animals. So they're downsizing, which is code for firing...myself and the other two night guards. They want to replace us with one new guard."

"Oh, sorry," Larry said.

"Well, what are you gonna do? I'd like you to meet my two colleagues here. Reginald? Gus?" Cecil said waking up his colleagues.

" Where is he? I'll beat him with my fist!" One of the two men said coming up next to Cecil.

"Gus, this is Larry Daley, the kid who wants to be the new night guard." Cecil said explaining.

"Nightguard? No, the lady at the agency said this was a museum position." Larry said.

"Most important position in the museum, Larry."

" He looks like a weirdie," Gus said.

" Wonderful guard, terrible people skills," Cecil said explaining to Larry.

"Now, listen, lunch box. Don't try anything funny. I once went nine rounds with John L. Sullivan." Gus said.

"You never fought John L. Sullivan in your life," Reginald said.

"Gentlemen, we have a job candidate here. He's got an excellent resume, a winning attitude...and I say let's give him a shot. What do you say?" Cecil said

"Hang on a sec. I think I might wanna have a little time just to think it over." Larry said.

"Do you want the job or not, snack shack?" Gus asked.

"No, no, I want the job...

"Welcome to the night guards, Larry," Reginald said.

"Larry, meet me up on the second floor. I'll slip into my orthopedics and give you a little tour. Arthritic knees. Not fun getting old, my friend. Go on." Cecil said sending Larry away.

"You really think he's the one?" Reginald asked.

"Oh, yes. He's the one." Cecil said and then left them to go meet up with Larry to give him a tour.

"Gotta keep it moving, Larry. I'm pretty spry for an old man." Cecil said ans lead them into a room with a small ancient Rome, a small western, and a small Mayan area. "This is the Diorama Room."

"Oh, yeah. I remember these little guys. Cute." When Larry was done Cecil was nowhere to be seen. "Cecil! Hey, Cecil!" Larry called for him. Suddenly he was tapped on the back. Larry jumped screaming.

"Did I get you good?"

"Yeah. You got me."

"Seriously, though, no fooling around in here. This stuff is really old." Cecil said putting the mask and costume away. "All right, then. As you can see, it's pretty quiet in here these days. On the left there is your Attila the Hun. And here we have our Easter Island head. And this, of course, is the Hall of African Mammals."

"Ah, yes. Monkeys. I love monkeys."

"Yeah."

"Guy's cute."

"Yeah, we call him Dexter. He's quite a little...ball of fun, aren't you, Dexter?" Cecil said. Larry looked at Cecil in a weird way.

"Moving on," Cecil said and walked out of the room and to an Ancient Egyptian-looking room. "And, finally, this is the temple of the Pharaoh Ahkmenrah. And in that tomb right down there, the pharaoh himself.

"Neat."

"And hanging on the wall behind him... was his most prized possession, the Tablet of Ahkmenrah. Twenty-four-carat gold. It's worth a fortune."

"Very cool."

"It is indeed, Larry. Very cool. All right. Report here at 5 tomorrow. We'll walk you through your duties."

"Okay, 5. I'll be here."

"Moving on."
