A/N: OKAY so these chapters are going to explain why Sans flat out tells you he likes you in No More Bonely Nights. He's trying to keep you with him by changing it more and more... This will explain what he's done over and over, trying to keep you with him. What he's done for you without you knowing.

It all kind of spoils parts, so be careful. Don't get pissy because I talked about it. This chapter wasn't that bad, it just kinda shows what it will be. Read only if you want to be spoiled for upcoming chapters. He will eventually tell you some of this in the main story too, but not as much.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When it started? Well... The timelines are pretty delicate, but... I got bored of the Underground. Everyone would move up, and I kept me and Papyrus behind just because I wasn't sure how to handle the timeline shifts. I knew the overworld, sure, we took visits all the time, but shifting the timeline to moving out? That wasn't really a risk I wanted to take. But every time it reset, I got bored. So, to finally appease my boredom, and make Papyrus happy, I decided to move out.

Now, the first time, we did not move in with a human. We moved into a normal apartment alone, but the humans there were abusive to us and they would not let Papyrus or I live peacefully. When it reset again, I decided to find somewhere else. Again, I failed to find a nice place. It got to the point where, after 15 tries, I'd memorized all the rentings. None of them accommodated monsters, or they would be very rude.

Take note, I was not looking for a relationship. I had fallen for Toriel over many timelines, and she always told me we were only friends. Every time she told me, she was pretty nice about it. I started looking just after this, every time. Just to keep my mind busy, for one... But then SHE popped up. She was an inconsistency that I had to check up on, and I had to make sure was safe.

She wasn't. Oh, fuck no, she was not safe in any sense of it. She was more of a wild card than even Frisk. The first time I met her, oh her face... It made me genuinely laugh at how shocked she was, but she also didn't care where we were or what I was. She was the first adult human to actually be nice to me, or any of the bar patrons. It was a breath of fresh air.

... The first time she died... Papyrus killed her with cooking. I was horrified, but not enough to do anything but help Papyrus report the accident to the cops... He was arrested.

The second time around, I was prepared to save her. I read up on how human bodies worked and was able to figure out a proper path to take the cardboard out of her throat and save her life. But, that was not enough... On the way home, the snow storm became hazardous and she got into a deadly crash... She died instantly.

The third time, I followed her home, preventing any problems as she went out of mountain range. After that, the weekend did nothing, no note of problem... We went to her house on the human holiday "Halloween." I knew of it, but I kept the facade of ignorance up. She asked me to dress up, and I did. She even got Papyrus a costume, a big spider, actually.

She accommodated Frisk well, too. She acted like a big sister, and despite her complete lack in knowledge of sign language she tried to understand Frisk. She really is something else, eh? Well, we went trick-or-treating when... well, she tried crossing the street after us, and she got hit on the crosswalk. She fucking got hit by a car, right in front of Frisk and Papyrus. Hell, it could've been one of us. She died on impact.

The fourth time, another inconsistency rose. Papyrus' costume changed. This time it was a large... cat, I guess. Hers changed, too. She was a dog, and Frisk's costume seemed to be another kind of dog... These were not important details. The night went smoothly, and we all went to bed happy.

She died in her sleep that night. She had a... a seizure... That was when I realized our dreams were slowly connecting, I was able to see what she was dreaming... Flowey, the little fucking flower, killed her.

Another reset. Another new, adorable thing learned, I get... a little farther. A little more life, new lines, new things to say back, new... She is amazing!

... About the fifteenth round with her is when my emotions started shifting to "liking" her instead of Toriel. I still love Tori, don't get me wrong, but we will only ever be friends. With her, it's a wild card... we could be anything. I didn't like seeing her die, every time it broke my heart. Papyrus would always cry with me... he knew it hurt, and it hurt him.

I remember the thirtieth time she died... the night before that, she said,

"I don't feel safe here, Sans. I think... I think someone's going to hurt me." During the night... Frisk killed her. This time, Frisk was the wild card. She was possessed. I should've seen it, but I didn't...

Frisk hasn't been possessed since. She actually told me "I got rid of her. She's not on my back anymore. She won't hurt Nani again." That was her nickname, you see, she always called the human "Nani." I didn't believe her at first, but I watched as she did her rounds, all mercy, nothing. She did not even fight Asgore, she told him a bigger danger was at way, and she would be able to break us all free... Well, I had to translate the hand because she can't talk, but either way he understood and believed me more than her.

... Well, that's how it all started...
