The following is written in my own words, however statements in quotes are from ChannelFrederator's video.
Gir is the hilarious, stupid and sometimes annoying malfunctioning SIR unit we all love to laugh at. But, Gir really supposed to be stupid?
Well, he may be, but what if this whole time, Gir was just playing dumb, and his stupidity was just a disguise?
Gir might be playing dumb in order to ruin Zim's plans. It is obvious that if Gir wasn't as stupid as he is, Zim might've been a step closer to taking over the world. The question is, why would Gir want to ruin Zim's plans? Gir could really be Zim's arch nemesis, with Zim oblivious to Gir's possible secret.
Gir for sure is a functioning SIR unit, for he can process "mission critical informs, however he appears to be "processing everything as mission critical." Which makes sense, because Gir is distracted by many ridiculous things. However he is "more confident than Zim in many ways, like blending in with human culture and learning their ways seamlessly."
Ah, Gir Goes Crazy and Stuff, one of my favorite episodes, and the essential source of evidence in this theory. In the episode, Gir takes over when he is upgraded to be more intelligent. However, I believe that even when he was upgraded a little he acted dumb just so Zim could raise the behavioral modulator to a dangerously high level so Gir could really express his true, feelings (even if he may be a robot) towards Zim. The behavioral modulator might've done nothing, and Gir was just acting like it worked.
Continuing on with Gir Goes Crazy and Stuff, Gir says this:
"You are no commander! You are a threat to the mission! Your methods are stupid! Your progress has been stupid! Your intelligence is stupid! For the sake of the mission, you must be terminated!"
-Gir, from Gir Goes Crazy and Stuff
This is an example of how Gir really feels about his "master." He wants to be more in control of the mission. He wants to be the one to destroy Earth, and get revenge on how Zim treats him. "Gir also says outright that he doesn't like being Zim's servant."
Have you ever heard of the non produced episode, The Trial? Well, at the end of the episode, Gir takes over the Earth while Zim is away on Irk. This happens in a comical way yet also shows how desperate Gir is to take over the world.
Some may argue that Gir is just stupid for real because the Tallest filled his head with garbage. However, if his head had garbage in it, how else would Gir be able to function? There must be something else behind it. it may just be cartoon logic.
Well, I'm wrapping things up here. Comment what you think, please don't argue. Could Jhonen be hiding an episode or some backstory that we never found out about, or is this just a coincidence? Maybe, but overall, this was a really interesting theory. Be sure to check our ChannelFrederator's video, and I never look at Gir the same way again, as if I know he's hiding an evil secret. Thanks for reading; Invader Emzy signing off!
