In front of me was a dark hallway. No lights to turn on. I walked down the hallway to find more rooms but there was none. I turned around and saw that the door I came through, was no longer there.
Odd. What else could go wrong? I searched through the dark looking for an escape. I spotted a small narrow hole near the floor. I got down on my knees and started crawling through the hole, dragging the sac along with me.
The hole was dark and I couldn't see. Then there was a noise. It shook the tunnel and I started wondering if this was a mistake. I clutched the sac an crawled as fast as I could through the tunnel, leaving mud caked on my legs and hands.
A bright light finally grew at the end of the tunnel and I crawled out and sprawled out onto the ground. I looked up and gasped.
A boy with dark brown eyes glared down at me. His dark brown hair stopped at the end of his ears. He was wearing a red t shirt and denim jeans. His face was masked with annoyance and he sighed, "Are you going to quit staring at me?" I knew he was looking at me too, taking longer than I had.
I stood up and tried brushing the mud off of my clothes. The boy just kept staring at me as if I was some princess.
"Okay, now you're the one staring." I folded my arms over my chest and glared at him. What did this boy want?
The boy became serious, "Who are you, how did you get here?"
"I crawled through that tunnel." I turned around but the tunnel was gone. I faced the boy and he looked mad, thinking that I was trying to trick him.
"The tunnel was just there." I raised my voice and started to get angry. Why did things keep disappearing?
"Sure whatever. What's your name?" The boy looked curious, probably since I just magically appeared out of nowhere.
"I don't know. I woke up today and remembered nothing about myself or anything pretty much." I rubbed my charm and waited for an answer from the boy.
"Well, welcome to California" The boy flung out his hand and waited for me to do something. What was I supposed to do?
"You're suppose to shake my hand." The boy grabbed my hand and I flinched, jerking back my hand.
"What are you doing?" I asked, looking down at my hand making sure it was unharmed. I looked around and realized how beautiful it was. The grass glowed a bright green and the sky was clear. I had landed near a neat looking house that stood two stories tall.
The glared at me again, "I was trying to shake it, that's how you greet someone." He rolled his eyes and shoved his hand back down into the pocket of his jeans.
"Sorry Mr. Grumps." I mumbled under my breath and turned around about to head towards a school.
"Hey, do you need a ride?" The boy asked me, his face softened up, starting to blush. Pink crept into his cheeks slowly.
I spoke in a harsh tone, "No I don't and leave me alone." I angrily rushed off and realized I had nothing to search for. Loneliness took control of me and I started to slow down.
I looked back and the boy still watched me. I turned my head sharply and continued down the tar road until I bumped into a girl.
She tripped back and glared at me, "Watch where you're going!"
I ignored her and continued until she started shouting at me, "Wait up!" She started chasing after me.
I stopped and waited for her, maybe she could answer some questions.
"Hi, I'm Ruby. Sorry I ran into you, I wasn't paying attention." She looked at me with fiery eyes that had a mix of red and orange.
"Um I don't know my name. I don't remember anything about me or the past." I glanced at myself and realized that the charm had glowed brighter than before.
Ruby looked at my charm and excitement filled her face. "I have the same charm too! My gem is red though." She pulled out her red charm from under her gray sweater and rubbed it.
The charm glowed with a bright red and Ruby glanced at me.
"Do you know my name?" I asked. I just wanted to know at least a little bit about me.
"Um no, but I could come up with a name for you." A spark twinkled in her eyes. Her eyes pleaded until I sighed.
"Sure, but make it a good name."
"Sounds good! Let's go to my house." Ruby led me down the road until we reached her house a few minutes later.
Ruby opened the door and led me inside. "You can sit down right here." She patted a black stool next to a marble counter.
I sat down and looked around. The house was filled with fancy decorations. Ruby sat down next to me with a notebook and a pencil.
"Okay let's make a list of names" Ruby looked at me for awhile until I started to shift uncomfortably.
"How about Hannah?" Ruby asked me. That name didn't feel right, so I shook my head.
"Emily?"
"No"
We had gone through about a few dozen names until Ruby asked, "What about Jade?" She stared at my charm that held the green gem.
"A jade is a green gem, like that in your charm." Ruby looked down at her own charm, "I got my name from the red gem, ruby."
Jade was a great name, it seemed to fit perfectly.
"I pick Jade." The last word came out as a whisper and it carried on over to Ruby. Ruby looked up and smiled.
"Well you finally have a name. Now you need to go to School."
