Clouds [Chapter 1&2]

Start from the beginning

“Seriously mom, can you not tell? I’m feelin kinda jet lag right now.” I moan.

“Oh there, there-“ she pats my knee. “-once we get back home, you can sleep all through the day. I’ll even prepare your favourite mac and cheese as soon as you wake up!”

“Really?” I pouted.

“Really.” She said firmly and pats my knee one last time before checking her phone for messages. See what I mean?

“You didn’t take your shift today?” I rose a brow at her.

“Oh no dear, I’m off today. Back early tomorrow morning.” I nodded at her statement, I look out the window to see that we were close to the driveway of our house.

The taxi finally stopped, mom paid before we got out of the car carrying my baggages and as soon as the taxi left, I stood in front of our house, just staring at it.

“This is the part where I say, welcome home!” She leans next to me and placed both her hands on my shoulders.

“Yay! Welcome home me!” I feigned excitement, but obviously dripping with sarcasm. Not that my mom would notice.

“Come on then!” She shoves me, leading me to the pavement of the house.

We went inside the house, and as soon as I stepped foot, I took off my shoes and lay down on our living room sofa. God, nothing has changed here. It’s like I never left. Mom leans down on me and smiles.

“I’m glad you’re  feeling comfortable there.”

“Where’s dad?” I ask.

“Mhmm, well right now he’s off to work.”

My dad works as a private doctor, so he’s not much at home. He usually stays most of the time in this rich old mans house, er, more like mansion. It was huge, and the garden was amazing. Of course I know it. I experienced it first-hand.

I once went there with my dad when I was young, since my mom had to work in the hospital and it was hard to find a babysitter that time so my dad took me with him to Mr. Warren, that's the rich old mans name. Don't get me wrong, he is very humble. And very nice and humorous, not that I found anything humorous coming out of his mouth.

I couldn't find anything funny back then but talking unicorns and suited sponges.

I turn to cover my face out of her sight and sighed.

"So, have you decided to which college boarding school you're goin' in?"

I scrunched my face at her. "Mom! can we at least not talk about college? I just got here plus I need a break from all those stuff." Also because I'm too young to go to college, I skipped grades a lot when I moved to Greece.

"-but to save myself from all the incoming questions you're about to give me. Yes. Yes I've decided on one already. They have a good environment and very good facilities." I added.

"So I see you've agreed on continuing your studies there..."

"Do I have a choice?"

I got a glimpse of my mom taking off her boots and some what patting it like she's trying to get off some dust and dirt.

"I guess that's a no." I say to myself.

“Why don’t you help me out in carrying your bags upstairs to your room?” I hear rustling sounds in between.

“zzzzzZZZZ!” I faked a snore---more like a buzz, but my mom just laughs and eventually leaves me to it.

“Just be sure to sort your things when you wake up, and then I’ll give you your treat!” she yells.

Urgh! Really mom?

“Can this summer get any better?” I whisper to myself.

Chapter Two.

woke up to the feeling like I was falling. And unsurprisingly, I found myself sprawled on the floor next to the sofa.

I rub my arms feeling a slight stingy sensation and looked up to observe the surroundings.

The curtains of the living room aren't draped down, and a glint of sunlight passed through the windows, illuminating the room.

It couldn't possibly be morning already?

I stare at the only clock in our living room hanged on the wall opposite the sofa.

8:17 a.m.

Damn!

My stomach grumbles. That's whatyougetfornoteatinglunchanddinner andsleepingall throughtheday!

As if on cue, my mom entered the living room with Mac and cheese on a plate with one hand and a glass of water in the other.

"Just in time!" she smiles at me and sits on the sofa.

I continue to stare at her from the floor. She placed the plate and glass of water to a nearby table.

"Well then are you going to stay there sprawled on the floor all day or sit down here next to me and eat your Mac and cheese?" she placed her hand on her hips.

I sigh, Standing up and sitting next to my mom on the sofa.

I grab the Mac and cheese and take a bite.  Godshemakes it sogood.

After I took a few bites, I ask.

"Why didn't you wake me up?"

"I was going to but I know you. You'd go back to sleep the moment Id start to wake you up."

I groan and rubbed my eyes.

"Here, drink this." mom hands me the water and I took a sip.
