I look at the clock and close my laptop quickly before packing my things in a hurry for lunch.

"Naya!" My friend Scarlet was waving her hands wildly in the sea of people to try and get my attention. I hurried through the crowd of rushing students and followed her waving hands. When I finally came face to face with her I smiled.

Scarlet was white and had long dirty blonde hair. Her eyes were hazel and she was a bit wide. Her cheeks were plump and rosy and she was dressed in her usual attire of sweat pants and over sized tees.

"Hey, I barely saw you with all of these upper class-pigs rushing about." Scarlet frowned.

"Yeah! they are so rude. I can barely stand them." We both laughed and started down the now empty hallway to go and sit in our usual corner for lunch. Our friend Aria was already seated.

Aria was even bigger than Scarlet. She was black and wore braided in weave a lot. I personally didn't approve of weave but I didn't let that get in the way of our friendship. "What's up Aria," Scarlet asked as she sat on the floor. I copied her movements and pulled out my lunch pail and began to unwrap my bologna sandwich. I hated bologna but it was all we had in the fridge to make a lunch. I took a quick bite and swallowed.

The sour taste reminded me of all the sour things in my life but mostly of the absence of my father in my life. Where was he now I wonder?

"Naya?" I look up from my disaster of a sandwich and at Aria.

"Huh?" I'm so lost.

"I asked if you knew about Scarlet's boyfriend that lives in Nebraska?" she throws a smirk already knowing the answer. Of course I didn't. Scarlet and I are best friends but for some reason she doesn't include me in certain things.

"Uh..No." I look at Scarlet. She holds a guilty look.

"I'm sorry Naya. I meant to tell you but I... I kinda didn't want everyone to know about it," and by everyone she meant me. Scarlet really makes me question our friendship.

"You should get a boyfriend Naya." Aria says. This scares me. I couldn't get a boyfriend if I wanted one. Well I did want one but honestly the last one I had was horrid enough to ruin the experience.

He seemed sweet and gentlemen like. He would kiss my hand and call me my lady. I loved it all. When we finally got together we went on one date to the mall and he gave me my first kiss in Sear's pots and pans department.

After that he saw one of his friends from his old school. She had a hot topic bag and a choker around her neck. She wore a whole bunch of piercings and looked around 16. He introduced us of course and she looked at me like it made no sense. After that I felt different about him after knowing of the people he was familiar with. Later on we were sitting on a display couch in Zumiez when he told me he could see this being our couch when we got married. Lets just say that I didn't want to get married just yet and when he took me into some weird anime store that showed a half naked anime fairy looking girl to me and said that's you, I broke it off the next day at school.

He took it hard but finally left me alone and was on to the next. Later I found out that he had flunked the 8th grade twice and that was why he was still in the 8th grade. Also he had ADHD. So that's why he would stand up in the middle of lunch and act like he was swinging the bat.

"I don't know Aria. I don't think it's for me."

"Yeah your right, I mean based on how skinny you are no one would want to be with you. you might hurt them by poking them with your bones." Aria's words hurt like fire. They made me realize that she was right. No one would want such a skinny girl. I was tall and thin. Not many guys liked that and to be exact because I was black many guys thought that I was sick. I had tried everything to gain weight but it never worked.

"There are guys out there that actually like that stuff Naya. You just gotta meet one," Aria said in a weak attempt to cheer me up. As usual it didn't work.
