We are sitting in the aditorium just after escaping the scorch. Rat man is up at the stage, about to give us another rant that I wish i didnt care about, but this felt important. I am seated inbetween Newt and Minho. I am starting to look at Newt differently. I feel like he's more than a friend now, but I dont know how to exolain it. If only i could talk to him about it.
"What?" Newt says, as I realize I've been staring at him.
"Nothing." I say, blushing and motioning towards the stage, "Lets get this over with."
"Good that." Newt says as he turns his attention forward to the Rat Man.
"Good evening, and congratulations for surviving the Scorch" the Rat Man looks right at me. "Now I have some news, and quite a few of you wont be happy about it," he pauses, "lets begin. First, I will announce who is immune to the flare, then we will get on with the rest of our evening, like usual. Immunes are," he pauses again for effect, I'm guessing, "Thomas, Brenda, Minho, and Newt." I sigh in relief that my closest friends are okay. That we will all be together. I look around the room and see girls from group B crying together. I knew there wouldnt be many immunes, b yt i didnt know there would be as little as there was. I should feel bad for them, but I'm too busy being happy that mt friends and I will be okay.
"Well, Guards, if you could direct the 'subjects' to their rooms, and close them up for the night." The Rat Man says to all of us, uncluding the guards, kindof hinting we were supposed to go.
Once directed to our room by the guards, Minho jumps to the top bunk yelling "I call tops!" I cringe at his happiness, because I dont know if he heard it, but there seemed to be a loud clicking sound as our door closed, locking us in. "That cant be good." Newt says in his cute accent. Whats going on with me? I have to ask myself, I don't remeber being attracted towards Newt untill now. Maybe I was gay and didn't realize untill now. Whatever was going on, Newt was lookimg different to me, in a way that i couldnt tell anyone about. Ever.
