I walked inside and kicked off my trusty converse. I stormed into the kitchen where mother was cutting up Rhubarb. Ewwww.... I sat down opposite where she was standing on the long granite bench. I glared at her plastic nose and peroxide blonde hair. After five minutes of awkward silence she looked up and sneered at me, as though I was roadkill, not her daughter.

"Your a cold-hearted b*tch" I stated as though it was common knowledge, which it is.

"I beg your pardon!" She yelled at me, narrowing her eyes.

"You heard me. I'm your own fricken daughter, and you expect me to pay my own medical bills?!" I screeched at her

"I hate to call to such drastic measures" She began " But your wasting all my precious money" She shrugged and turned her attention back to the cutting board.

"No!" I screemed, my voice echoed through the house

"I'm sorry, but I cant think of another solution" Yeah, sure I thought. How about getting a job? I heard the clacking of heels and looked up to see my step-sister Harriet.

"Why not send her to some strict Christian boarding school?" She asked faking innocence. I glared at her, but she flicked her hair, ignoring me.

"No!" I screamed, annoyed that she would even consider it.

Both mother and Harriet ignored my protests

"Why that's a wonderful Idea" Mother stated smiling at her favourite daughter. They had a long discussion over me, and how beneficial some rules and boundaries would be. Finally I gave up trying to convince them otherwise. I thought it over and came up with a plan. I cleared my throat to get their attention.

"I will agree to go to some stupid boarding school under three conditions.

Firstly I get to choose the school.

Secondly I don't start till next term.

Thirdly, neither of you come to visit at any stage of the year, until I graduate."

Mother thought about it and then said

"Okay but the school must be strict, within the country and Christian." I agreed instantly before running upstairs to call Paygen.

I sat down on my bed, staring at the open doors of my closet. I was already wearing my ripped, black skinny jeans and red converse. Reaching into my closet I pulled out a red t-shirt and a black leather jacket.

I walked over to my full length mirror and inspected my reflection. My blonde hair was hanging loosely down my back, most of my curls straightened out of it. I wore a red woolen beanie and my eyes were framed with fake lashes. I wasn't one for much make-up other than mascara and lip gloss. After applying that I walked down stairs and grabbed a blueberry muffin off the bench before walking to Paygens house.

Knocking on the door I let myself in, and was surrounded by the aroma of fire, fruit and brown sugar. This could only mean one thing, sprinting for the back door I slid it open and greeted Paygen and her mum before grabbing a fruit kebab and holding it over the mini fire. About three minutes later I was nibbling on caramelised watermelon, apple, kiwi-fruit and mango. Biting into the delicious heaven I smiled, enjoying the flavour. After socialising for a few hours Paygen suggested we went for a walk, I agreed, and got up. We went down to the park and sat on a wooden bench that faced the pond, we chatted about stuff when the mood was ruined.

"So how was yesterday afternoon?" Paygen asked curiously, I stopped and thought about how I would break the news to her.

"Well, not great, that's for sure" I said shrugging, trying to hide my wariness, but of course being as observant as she was, she noticed. Giving me a I-know-your-hiding-something look, she asked what was up. I sighed and explained what happened, all the while she sat there digesting the knowledge with a blank look on her face. Then she twitched and looked at me.

"So, you're leaving?" I nodded and looked at her,

"Yes, but I promise we will speak everyday" I assured her. She looked at the clouds and sighed.

"I knew this day would come" I gave her a confused look, wanting an explanation, but she just shook her head.

"When do you leave?" She asked

"End of term" I told her quietly.

"Well come on then!" She said getting up,

"Where are we going?" I asked, laughing as she pulled me along.

"To choose a school, dummy!" She laughed with me as we went back to hers.
