Most men were taught to fear that day. The day computers could keep up with the humans. The day that technology could compete with people for dominance on our world. Most feared that day. Most, except for one man; 25 year old Jonathan Raimes. Jonathan was a brilliant Computer Engineer from MIT. His professors lauded him as "a genius among geniuses." After graduating from MIT in 2020 at the top of his class, Jonathan began his own private company, called LightCom, With the purpose of designing and building the most advanced Computer Systems the world had ever seen. LightCom was responsible for some of the world's biggest leaps in technology. One of their biggest being a form of basic Artificial Intelligence, aptly named,Sloth.
Sloth was first presented to the world at CES Las Vegas in 2018. Sloth was created to look like a small human, almost like a child, with pale white coloring, and light grey eyes. While Sloth was not capable of performing advanced tasks on it's own, Sloth was capable of performing simple, mundane tasks like sweeping, cleaning, organizing, and even tying shoes. While these tasks may not be remarkable, the amazing thing was that the Sloth system did these things of it's own volition. No programming, no need to tell it. It simply, decided. Now, Sloth could not make any other decisions besides those basic ones, but it was still incredible.
Raimes was hailed as a technological god, and when asked about what drove him to create Sloth, he replied,
" In the beginning, God created light. Out of all things, Light was the first to be created. Light was at the forefront of innovation. LightCom has now taken on that mantle. We are the forefront of technology and advancement. It all began with Light, and so it will begin again. "
Arrogant prick, ain't he?
