"Aria, are you almost ready? I don't want you to be late for your first day!" shouted Janel, Aria's young, stunning mother, from the bottom of the stairs in their new 3 story home.
Aria finished putting on her lipstick and hurriedly ran down the stairs to meet her mom at the bottom. She looked at her mom and smiled, "I'm ready now. How do I look?" as if looking good ever really mattered to her. She was precariously careless.
Her mom smiled, graciously, "You look beautiful as always. Let's head out."
Both Aria and Janel rushed to the car and drove to the school. It was huge, and Aria had no idea what to expect. The building was old, worn down, like it had been around for 100 years. She was from a small town so this was much different and new to her.
She walked into her brand new school, eager to see what the future held behind the old building walls. She saw several new faces, handsome boys, beautiful girls, and she got smiles as she walked past nearly everyone.
Her locker was right next to her first period class and next to a nicely dressed boy. Suit and tie = perfection, at least in her eyes.
"Hey, you're Aria, right? I pay attention to all the new faces at this school," said the mysterious boy, cautiously. His teeth were perfectly straight and his hair was combed back. He had an incredible smile, one that you could definitely not stop looking at. Well taken care of teeth = also very perfect.
She could not refrain from smiling while looking at his, "Yep! That's me! What's your name?" Nerves swam throughout her body. She could feel her heartbeat throughout her entire body. Of course, leave it to her to still get nervous because of cute boys speaking to her. But he was showing interest, which made her think twice about anything she said or did next.
"I'm Matthew, but call me Matt," he seemed interested in getting to know her, "what's your first period?" He pulled out a piece of lightly crumpled paper and handed it to her.
She tried not to smile too wide, "I have first period with you actually. History with Mr. Jenning, Is he cool?"
"He's great. You'll love his class. The bell's about to ring, lets head in."
The two of them walk into the large campus-styled classroom. Mr Jenning was incredibly handsome, and had the most beautiful oceanic blue eyes. Of course, Aria knew she had no chance, especially with a teacher, even if he did resemble a celebrity and looked exceptionally young. She still couldn't quite understand how everyone at this school was so breathtaking, and yet, she was average. She wouldn't notice herself in a crowd full of people from this school; she wasn't anything seemingly special, at least in her own eyes.
Mr. Jenning, or shall I say, Mr. Incredibly handsome, stood up in front of the 40-something students in the classroom, and began his lesson. Girls whistled all around room; you could not pin point the exact mouths that these whistles were coming from. "Hey there class. I want to begin my lesson by asking you all one question. Who here, by a show of hands, have ever come in contact with something supernatural? This may be ghosts, vampires, werewolves, witches, and anything else you can think of on the spot." Nearly the entire classroom was filled with hands raised straight in the air. Aria, being one that did not have her hand raised. To be honest, she wasn't sure if she ever did come in contact with something. She wouldn't have said that she didn't believe in those things, because she hadn't thought about it. The teachers eyes lingered around the room, "that's a lot of hands. So for those of you without raised hands; if you have not seen any of these, or even thought you have seen these things... I promise you, you will. This town has so many interesting artifacts that so many of you will learn about in this class."
Aria peered over at Matt, noticing how interested he was in the words coming from their teacher. Suddenly, he spoke, "Mr. Jenning, which supernatural being are you most interested in? I find myself most interested in Vampires. They seem to be very mysterious. I don't think you could spot a vampire by just looking at someone, but I definitely believe that they are real." By that time, everyone in the class had probably noticed how interested he did look in the topic, not only that, but by how alluring his smile was.
"Matt, I would say that my fascination leans toward witches. But I would be lying to you if I said that I wasn't particularly interested in all," replied the teacher, "it's unbelievable how all can go unnoticed for nearly their entire lives. Now, please open your books to page 6. This week we will be studying history's finest, Vampires."
-----
When the school day was over, Aria couldn't steer her mind away from the topic that they talked about in her first period class. She couldn't help but want to know more, and why this seemed to be a topic of interest in a history class. Did something happen in the past in this town that made this topic come up? As far as she knew, none of those things actually existed, so why would a HISTORY teacher be talking about falsehood things?
