“Your chambers of course, wouldn’t want my brother interrupting us, you know, by trying to kill you.”

   He was afraid of that.

The part about his chambers, not about Famine trying to kill him, that was a given.

He was thinking he’d had to drag another bed across the realms after that because he’d have to burn every surface she touched…but, who actually said he had to come back. Sera couldn’t come live with him here even if for some demented reason he would want to bring her here. To be with her he would have to stay on earth…yes he would, he would stay on earth for her.

That made him feel good in all sorts of ways, mostly because if he didn’t come back then he wouldn’t have to worry about fucking Pestilence. And since she couldn’t leave Hell he didn’t have to worry about her chasing him down either. Earth was sounding better and better.

He was still grinning when he leaned down to scoop Lizzy back up and finish the job. She was pressing her fingers to her head trying to evaluate the damage it seemed, but one look at happy Gage and she scrambled away.

“D-d-don’t touch me,” she stumbled through her words, her gaze moving behind him for a moment before staring him down again, “Just, just stay away.”

He figured she was finally taking in the wings since he hadn’t heard anyone come up behind him. Not that he had heard Pestilence either, but it was easy to be light of foot when you didn’t weigh anything. Again he wanted to tell her it was all alright, but who knew who else they would run into. Instead he rolled his eyes and ignored her request.

“Not an option Lizzy,” he grumbled to her, “we’ve got places to be.”

“How do you know who I am?” she demanded as she continued to fight him.

   “I…uh…Greed told me.”

No, greed told him Elizabeth Wendy Pruett, not Lizzy. But the walls had ears so he couldn’t give her any other explanation without giving away their earthen connection.

She didn’t ask him anything else as they navigated the labyrinths, she did shout a lot of things at him, profanities mostly as she scratched and punched. But for the sparse few they passed it made the show all that much real. And by the time he made it to Lucifer’s gold doors he was dragging Lizzy behind him by her wrists. Keeping her and those strong legs as far out from him as he could. One near nut shot was enough for one day. He didn’t need her succeeding where Sera narrowly missed.

He thanked Fate again when only one Sadist Twin was standing at post. It meant Lucifer was out of palace. Whether he went for a swim or how long he was going to be gone Gage didn’t know, but it was a start.

“Hey, mind if I drop something off for Lucifer?” He asked the demon with a nod.

   “He’s not here,” he rumbled.

Gage fought not to bite off some snarky remark. Yes they were strong, yes they were ruthless and unforgiving, but they were as dumb as stones too. Of course Gage knew Lucifer wasn’t there, he never went anywhere without an escort.

“I know, but this way it can be a surprise, you know?”

“I’m not going to go in there!” Lizzy shouted and tugged hard against Gage’s hold. She even put one foot up for leverage to try to push and pull at the same time.

Gage shot her an annoyed looked and picked up his arm, throwing her off balance and sending her back on her rear before turning back to the twin.
