Another Rainy Day

''Another rainy day,'' I said to myself. I love the rain. Great time to explore.

''I going for a walk!'' I yelled to my mom.

''OK. Be back before dark!'' she yelled back.

''Bye!'' I yelled back when I was out the door.

I started walking down the muddy road that lead into the woods. When I'm sad or lonely or just plain frustrated I walk down this path. It reminds me of a magical forest. The place is filled with pine trees and in the winter, snow covers everything. It's just so magical! I wish magic was real.

I kept walking for another hour or so. My hair was soaked. You couldn't even tell that it used to be light brown.

It was freezing. I could see my breath as I was walking. It gets really cold where I live. Even in the Fall.

''I better start heading back,'' I said to myself.

I looked up and I could already see the stars appearing in the orange sky.

I heard a twig snap not twenty feet behind me.

I jolted around to see a black figure dash away.

''Must of been a rabbit,'' I said to myself. I don't think it was a rabbit because of it's size. It couldn't have been a bear.  Too fast. Very unlikely chances of it being a human, though.

I decided to continue walking.

I walked for a bit longer until I heard another twig snap. Everything was the same except that there wasn't a black figure.

Except for the one 30 feet in front of me.

He just stared at me and, I stared back. I stared until my eyes burned.

In the blink of my an eye, the figure was gone. There was talking off to the right.

''What did I tell you about making noise?'' I'm guessing a woman said.

''You guys left me behind!'' he replied.

''Be quiet! She is looking this way!'' the other man said.

I froze. At that very moment, I turned as fast as I could and ran.

''She's getting away!'' yelled one of them. I couldn't tell which one. I just kept running.

Soon enough I came to a clearing near a cliff side. I remember this clearing well because my dad would bring me here all the time. Then one day I got a visitor from the army. I was only seven. He had broken the news that my dad had died overseas. That day, I came up here alone and cried my eyes out. I still miss him.

Anyways, no time for sad stories because I still have to get away from my pursuers. I ran towards the edge of the hillside hoping there was a trail I could lose them on.

Just my luck. There was.

I quickly ran down it as fast as I could. They followed me.

I tripped and fell down the hill. I tried to grab a nearby tree but hurt my hand. I guess I hit my head on a rock because everything went black.
