Chapter 1 - Authority Issues
My bike peeled out and I floored it. I was doing nearly doubled the speed limit and made it halfway home, before blue an red lights appeared in my review mirror.
I groaned inwardly and rode onwards for another mile before pulling to the side. The officer stepped out of his vehicle and stalked towards me. I pulled off my helmet and his scowl deepened.
"Officer Brenning." I grinned at his frustration.
"Casey this is ridiculous, it's the the third brawl you've caused in two days." Officer Brennings scowl didn't budge as I smirked at him.
"This is different. How was I supposed to know that two guys thought I was dating them?" I told him trying to sound genuine, as he struggled to keep his grin in check.
"I warned you, I'm going to have to take in." He told me, smiling slightly at the thought.
"Aww, Denny! I thought we were friends." I cried laughing slightly. "Fine I'll come, so long as I can drive."
"You have got to be joking! I'm not going to give you my keys!" His said a smile pulling at the corners of his mouth.
"That's okay." I told him trailing my fingers across his chest and stepping off my bike. "They're right here." I grinned shaking his keys in front of his face.
"Not again." He groaned.
I chuckled and threw him my keys which he caught easily, then my helmet which he dropped. "Seriously?" He just raised an eyebrow.
I hopped in the squad car and rolled down the window. "Wanna race?"
"Hell, yeah!"
I couldn't believe just how often this happened. I had raced Denny to the police station at least once a week for the past year. When we pulled into the parking lot tires screeching the cops didn't even come running. They'd seen us race enough times to know I was back for the night.
"I beat you again." I laughed tossing Denny his keys.
"Yeah, beaten by a little girl." I heard him mutter.
"Aww, don't sook! You have me where you want me." I told him as we approached my regular cell.
"Yup, I sure do but we should really stop meeting like this." Denny's brow furrowed. "One of these days your going to get yourself hurt."
"I know Denny." I said touching his cheek before stepping inside my cell. "Just imagine how pissed my father will be." With that a bright smile settled onto his face.
"Go on shoo, your shift ended twenty minutes ago, your wife will be expecting you." Denny gave me a quick hug before stepping out and locking me in.
"I'll let you out in the morning. But I better warn you these cells will be overflowing soon, we had a tough night." I gave him a look as if he were crazy. I'd been in this same cell with a whole variety of people.
"Don't worry I can take care of my self big brother." I ruffled his hair once before stalking away to sit on my bunk.
Only seconds later the door slid open and a man in his early twenties walked in. I did a quick survey of his body. He had a golden tan, straight dark brown hair that fell in his eyes and a nice toned body. The thing that caught my attention were his baby blues.
"Hey, what are you in here for?" God even his voice was alluring. I frowned briefly.
"Honestly? I'm not sure." He let out a low chuckled at my reply.
"What can't you remember that far back?"
I sighed. "Okay, okay. Hmm... Let me think, well it could have been for starting that brawl, or maybe the DUI, or maybe even eluding the cops. Or it possibly could have been drag racing back here in a squad car, while the officer raced me on my bike. Which do you think it was?" he seemed shocked. "Wait, wait I forgot nearly doubling the speed limit on a public road."
The guy looked at me and did a double take. Before smirking at me.
"This brawl you started wouldn't have been at the local bar now would it?" I composed my features making my face unreadable. Somehow he figured out it was me. An the smirk was replaced by astonishment. "I can't believe you caused about twenty of us bar goers, to be arrested!"
"Yeah, she's in the habit of doing that." I looked down at my hands while my cell buddy turned towards the door.
"She's two much like her mother." My jail buddy looked between us.
"You two know each other?" He asked.
"Sure we do, this ones in here nearly every day!" He practically shouted the last part at me and I grimaced.
I stood and gestured between them. "This man here is the chief of police. Chief Brenning this is my cell buddy. Ah..?" Seeing my hesitation my jail buddy stepped in.
"I'm Liam Mitchell." He said extending a hand which the Chief shook.
"I think you've forgotten to introduce yourself." As soon as he said it I glared at the Chief.
"Arg, I'm Casey." I said extending my hand towards Liam. He shook it seeming happy to have my name. "Satisfied, Chief?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"For now." Thinking he was leaving I turned away to take off my jacket. "Is that a new tattoo?" He roared and I cringed having forgotten that my top exposed my midriff.
"Yeah so? What's it to you?" The moment it was out of my mouth I regretted it, but I turned to face him crossing my arms over my chest anyway.
The Chiefs vein pulsed at his forehead and his jaw clenched so I new I was in deep trouble. "Your my daughter" he forced out through clenched teeth "and your barely eighteen. These decisions you make now will effect the rest if your life!" He yelled at me and every body in the whole jail went silent.
"As you just so eloquently put it, I AM EIGHTEEN, and YOU have no say in MY LIFE!" I yelled back at him.
"I can't believe you! You drag race your older brother A COP. You DRINK, get tattoos and ride a freaking motorcycle. An yet your the DAUGHTER of the CHEIF of POLICE." With that he slammed my cells door shut and high tailed his way out of there. He was down the end of the hallway before he continued. "Just because your MY daughter and are good looking doesn't mean you can get away with everything!" Then he pushed his way out the door and was gone.
Everyone was peering through there bars to stare at me.
"What are you staring at?" I bellowed and most turned there eyes away in fear.
"Your father seems like a nice man." I turned my anger on Liam.
"An just for that comment you can sleep on the floor." I plonked my self on the bunk and promptly passed out.
