I wake up to the sight of my father, mother, and brother at the end of my bed. Judy, my mother was holding a nice big purple and green cake. Jason (brother) and Jim (father) were holding 2 presents. One in Jason's hands and the other in my dads. " Happy Birthday!" My mom shouted at me while handing me my cake. "Make a wish" my brother said and so I did. I have always wished the same thing since I was six. To become a singer. I was nine now an I thought I should start learning to sing before I turned 10. I jump out of my bed and run to the dining table and put the cake down and sat on the bar stool nearest to the wall phone.
Every year at exactly 8:30 am my grandmother always called to say "happy birthday" and it's 8:29 am. As i'am waiting there I hear the phone ring. I jolt up out of my slouch and pick up the phone "hello?" I asked. "Hi ... Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Alecia, happy birthday to you!" "Thank you grandma." " happy birthday darling. How old are you know? 6, 7, 8... " "9!!" I yelled back. " nine!!!! Wow almost double digits. My little baby is getting older each day! Love you so much and have great day sweet heart. I have to go, see you soon!" " bye love you too, thank you!" I screamed trying to fit it all in before she turned off the phone.
I sit down on the right side of our plaid love seat. My mom is on the left. Jason hands me his present first. His presents are always really good. I always wonder where he gets the money to buy all of them. He hands me a cute little box tied together with a green bow. I wrip it open and inside is 2 tickets to see Linda Perry in Philli. "Oh my gosh! Jason thanks so much!" I screamed while hugging him. " Ours is next" my mother exclaimed smiling at my father. I shook the large box. "What is it?" "Open it and you'll find out!" The box was heavy and wasn't making any noise. I tear the paper and come to a dead stop. Here in my hands is the key to my future...
