His lips parted and he paused, as if he could hear her.
Chaos came in that next moment.
“Michael,” Jerry growled so feral had Sera not known him she would have been scared.
Instead she knew it was Michael she should fear and whatever he came for. Again he moved to open the door, this time reaching for the sword at his side. But with Chelsea’s panicked words he was no longer important.
“They’re here,” she shouted as she came running back in the room, “Lacy said you’re Uncle’s men are here! They made a bee line for her too, they…I think they took her. She told me to get out and then I heard a splash and the line went dead. I think she threw her phone in the fountain, Sera we need to get out of here!”
Sera’s heart began to pound in her chest and she turned back to Michael…but he was gone.
“Sera did you hear me, we have to leave, now!”
“Yeah…yeah I did,” she mumbled. Why would he just leave like that? He must have come here for a reason…
“Sera,” this time Chelsea latched on to her arm and gave a tug, “Let’s go!”
She stumbled for a moment before she found her bearings, grabbing on to Jerry as she passed him and taking him with her. He didn’t protest, instead waved to Death and together the four of them ran for the foyer. Sera said nothing as she watched Chelsea draw her gun before going for the door. Right now it would have been better if they were all armed knowing her Uncle.
Gage was brought up, but they decided it wouldn’t take him long to figure out something went wrong, and figured he’d be happier to know they got out then got caught.
Except someone came bursting through the door before they could reach it. She had hit it pretty hard too to break the lock, her hand grabbing at her shoulder evidence of her pain.
“You’ve got to get out of here,” Lizzy choked out, “the Senator knows you’re here, all of you, you need to get out!”
Sera was too shocked to speak, Chelsea on the other hand.
“Of course he does, you told him,” she gestured with the gun but didn’t aim it at her.
She swallowed her pain and shook her head ardently as she gripped her arm, “it wasn’t me, I swear to you I didn’t give the Angels up but someone has. They’re arresting them all in one big raid, anyone who fights back they’re…they’re not going to show any mercy.”
“And how else would you know that if you were responsible?” Chels shouted.
“Because he wanted me to watch,” Lizzy met her tone, “he wanted me to watch you all be taken down, to show me that protecting you had been worthless.”
As she finished speaking Lizzy’s eyes fell on Sera.
“Me?” Sera asked in shock, “why me? You never listened to anything I ever said.”
“Because you actually cared, about me, I’m sorry I didn’t see it until it was too late but…I…” she fought for words, “I’m sorry.”
“I’ve got to warn Duncan,” Chels mumbled and pulled her phone from her pocket and wandered away.
“So, then if it wasn’t you who gave away our next moves, who we were going after next then who did?” Sera asked.
“D’u be’lieve her?” Jerry asked angrily but Sera just ignored him, urging Lizzy to do the same.
“Well, I was for a minute, but I realized I couldn’t anymore the night we went to the Senator’s house,” she admittedly quickly before Jerry could cut her off, “I was supposed to go back with you guys and keep getting information. But I let myself get caught so I could tell your uncle to fuck off. But…but he said there was only one way out and I had the choice, talk or die.”
