“Come again?” Chelsea blinked at her, “and why is he talking like that?”
Sera took a deep breath and explained to Chelsea what Jerry had to her when she first met him in Drew’s body. She took it about as well as Sera had, but at least Chels had already had the advantage of see the impossible sight of Gage disappearing before her. All Sera had at the time were blips of memories that weren’t hers to confuse her to which reality she was in even more. Ooo, she had forgotten to ask Gage about that one, she had to try and remember to ask him later why she seemed to have some of his memories.
“Um…oh…okay, sooo he’s a demon and not really Drew. Okay, got it…I think…” Chels brow knitted together.
“What about me?” Death came bounding up next to Sera, “are you going to introduce the rest of your posse?”
“Posse?” Sera laughed, “no I can’t, she can’t see you remember?”
“See who?” Chelsea asked.
“Oh, right,” Death pouted…for about a second. Then she grinned as she moved to Chels’s side, eyeing her arm.
Sera probably should have warned Chels what was coming because she startled and gasped as Death reached for her.
“Sorry, cold hands I know, but since you’ve got a long life in front of you this is the only way you’re going to be able to see me.”
“Long life…who are you?” Chels stuttered.
“Chelsea, meet Death,” Sera gestured between the two of them, “the Death.”
Chelsea’s frantic gaze shot to the woman next to her, “are you taking me to the afterlife?”
“No,” she tsked, “I just told you, even if I shouldn’t have, but you’ll die surrounded by your kids and grandkids so my touch isn’t that touch of death.”
Huh, funny that Sera would find herself jealous over that.
“Oh…okay,” Chels relaxed a little and gave Death a good look over, “you know, you don’t look anything like I-”
“I know, I know,” Death rolled her rose colored eyes, “I’ve heard it before. Now you want to tell us what you’re doing here?”
“I’m here for her,” Chels held a hand out to Sera, “she’s had me going crazy over what happened.”
“Yeah…sorry about that, I thought I was in a dream.”
“Sure,” Chels drawled.
“Aren’t you putting yourself in danger by coming for her though?” Death asked with an honest concern, seemed she took the ‘any friend of mine is a friend of yours’ mantra quite literally.
“Doesn’t matter,” Chelsea waved her hand dismissively, “I’m sure I’ll be blacklisted soon enough too once the Angel’s get word that my parents are pulling their funding. We’ll be the next on their shit list. Not that they’re really worried, unlike the Angels they have a truly honest company. There’s nothing to dig up except compost...literally.”
“You’re parents are pulling out,” Sera asked as she began pulling items from the bag, “why?”
Not just clothes, but toiletries too. Under the jeans and sweater there was deodorant and her toothbrush and hairbrush, wait…yup, even Sera’s makeup bag. It made her suddenly self-conscious to realize Gage had seen her without it. Though…she hadn’t had it on when they were on the train either, and he said that’s when he came up with the sleeping beauty. Sera blushed. Thankfully no one seemed to notice.
