Her life flashed before my eyes.
She had a family, friends, a lover. She'd only wanted to adventure like myself until it had all gone wrong and she landed near this village. Some men had found her and had their way with her, violating her every being before leaving her for dead. She'd been devastated, crying, vulnerable until the flame took over. It had stolen her body before she could reign it in and she had hunted them down, burning every single one of them to ashes before she'd proceeded to murder their families and their friends.
Tears welled in my eyes again as I watched her eyes roll into the back of her head and her body fall to the ground, her once bright green eyes, lifeless. Her blood, defeated, mingled into mine and returned into my body, seeping through the already half healed wounds and closing them before filling me to the brim with overflowing emotions, memories and magical energies.
Hot wet tears fell down my cheeks as my chest heaved and I broke into sobs, my hands shaking and my cries loud as I realised what I had done. I'd killed someone. I'd taken someone else's life, destroyed it and cursed my own blood with theirs.
What have I done?
"Eve! Oh thank the heavens you're ali....." Sebastian trailed off as he stumbled over to myself and Larina's dead body, that was her name..... Larina. He swiftly put his hand from his head to his torso, then both of his shoulders and bowing his head down, mumbling something to himself.
" .....Amen." I heard him say before he looked back at me, his face a hard, thin and grim line as he hauled me to my feet, my sobs slowing as he held me. He rubbed my shoulders comfortingly, leaning his head on mine as he sat me near Clop.
It was defense Eve, she was going to kill you. Clop's voice consoled me and I smiled pathetically at her before breaking down into tears again.
"I killed her. I took her life...." I mumbled to myself before curling up into a ball and leaning against Sebastian for support, gripping his shirt tightly and rocking back and forth softly.
"It's okay Eve, it'll be okay." He whispered into my hair as he pressed his lips softly to the top of my head as I faded into darkness, the fire and water magics still fighting in my body causing my extreme exhaustion, but not my sorrow and regret.

"We're almost at the next village Eve, we'll be there in a few minutes." Sebastian smiled sadly at me, gripping Clop's reigns as we walked slowly. I nodded numbly, picking at the scab on my palm and watching as the black blood spilled from the never healing wound. I wouldn't let it heal, never. It would always serve as a reminder as to what I'd done, what kind of a monster I'd become.
Stones cut into my bare feet but I ignored the pain as every beat my heart took spread the pain and suffering of Larina's loss. It wasn't her fault, she hadn't done anything it was the fire. She just hadn't been able to control it. It was all my fault, I'd been the one to kill her, to trick her into thinking I was giving her my magic. She only wanted to go home like I did.
The new knowledge of doubled magic and memories had overloaded my brain and body, feeling it spill with energy meant that I could do almost anything and yet, I was afraid to do something. I could hurt someone again.... kill someone again.
Before I knew it I could see the corners of buildings come into my view as I stared at the ground and we stopped abruptly, Sebastian speaking to someone before gesturing to myself.
"She's also with me, her name is Eve." He explained to the portly man before me, he was much larger and rounder than myself and Sebastian. I immediately assumed he was the innkeeper.
"No, God forbid we let that thing in here! Get it out of my sight now!" He yelled, storming back into the wooden building and slamming the door, the noise rumbling through the house. Tears crept into my eyes but I willed them to stay put as I stared at Sebastian.
"I told you, just kill me already. I don't deserve to be alive, I killed someone, I'm a monster." He frowned and grabbed my hand, dragging me along as we knocked on each door, receiving the same response as each person saw my pointed ears or startlingly blue eyes and shuddered before screaming and demanding that we leave. Some even threw their belongings at me, though the flimsy metal contraptions inflicted no pain.
"WITCH! SHE'S A WITCH!" I heard a child scream before a stone went flying for my face. Sebastian's horrified look told me all I needed to know. My death had finally arrived, and I welcomed it with a haunting smile.
