I was standing in the middle of a forest when I realized it wasn't my dream anymore. I looked around and saw that she had actually brought me to a Pecan Orchard not a forest. A mist covered the ground to where I couldn't see my bare feet. I felt the wind lightly breeze over my loose yellow sundress. A dress I would wear outside of the dream. "Mother?" I called out.
"Oh my daughter I have always loved your hair." My mother's strong and vibrant voice rang through the trees. I turned and came face to face with a woman that seemed to only be 35 years old but was as old as time itself. Her beige sundress was held around her neck with blue and green beads. Her skin was perfectly tanned, a coppery color, with curly, brown hair and deep brown eyes. She was beautiful.
"Hello, mother," I said running and hugging her. "I've missed you." I felt the tears start to well up in my eyes. She was dead in real life but she always visited me in my dreams on my birthday.
"I've missed you too." I felt her squeeze me back. "Happy 13th birthday, my Gemma." That's when the tear fell from my eyes onto her chest.
I wish you were there... in the real world... with us." I held onto her, never wanting to let her go.
"I know Gemma, but I have things I need you to do. Something's for me out there." She stroked my hair trying to calm me.
"What is it?" I pulled away slightly but didn't let go.
"I need you to live a long, long life and do as I ask. Can you do that?" Her eyes were serious and pleading.
I nodded.
"That's my baby girl." She kissed my forehead. "Now wake up so you can celebrate with Petrus."
"Yes, mommy." I finally let her go and rescinded to darkness.
