~Casey's POV~
"Why?" I tell my social worker Sally as she tells me over lunch the worst news I've heard in my life.
"Because Casey your mother can't take care of you and you know your father can't."
My parents are not the best in the world, my dad is a severe alcoholic and used to abuse me and my mom is not that far behind him in the 'worst parents of the year award'.
"But why can't I go with my aunt, or my sister?" I ask.
My aunt lives in Nova Scotia so she could take me, and my sister would take me any day.
"Because sweety, your aunt has too many business travels per month, she wouldn't be able to take care of you, and your sister is only 18 and in college."
"So that's it, I don't even have a chance?"
"Sorry, we've already found you a group home. It's a lovely place, they allow visitors so your sister can come and visit you anytime."
"Well, at least that's a good thing."
"So, let's go get your stuff and head over to the group home, so you can get settled in early."
She takes my hand, and we walk out of the door of the restaurant, and head to her car.
Sally has a red Mini Cooper which I LOVE. I'm happy that I got her as a social worker.
We drive up town and towards my shack of a house.
My parents are working so we can take all the time that we need.
I clamber out of the car and grab the key from under the step, and unlock the door.
I run up the rugged staircase and take one last look around the house before I say goodbye.
I then take a sharp turn and head up a small staircase that leads to the attic, or should I say, my room.
I grab my suit case from under my bed and open the dresser drawer. I can only take so much clothes so I takes couple of pairs of jeans and t-shirts, some under garments, and last but not least my favourite top, my blue striped top that fits my curves perfectly.
My sister gave it to me before she went off to college so I would always have her with me.
I take one last look through my window.
.
Even though its an ugly town, I have a beautiful view from my window. You can see all of the mountains on the coastline and the abandon factory.
I don't know why but I find the most beauty in the ugliest of places. People don't realize how beautiful this ghost town really is.
We have forests, mountains, a giant river, and so many beautiful animals, it's unbelievable how people don't see this beauty.
And that's another reason why I hate people, they don't look for beauty, they look for the imperfections. They only see the layer of ugly not the beauty underneath.
"Casey, are you ready?!" I get snapped out of my thoughts by Sally screaming my name.
"Just a second!" I yell back.
I grab my suitcase, my phone, it's charger, and my stuffed elephant I got when I was 3 from my aunt.
I head down the narrow staircase, and into the kitchen where I find Sally looking out the window.
I think she sees the beauty too.
She must have heard me come in because she turns around and heads towards the staircase that leads to the front door.
