Odd One Out

Time goes by and I grow older,
Getting wiser and slightly bolder,
Friendships lost and not many gained,
Relationships few and my heart stained.

People going their separate ways,
I'm left remembering the early days,
The sunshine years when things were good,
Now the future's as clear as mud.

Surrounded by couples in every direction,
Looking in the mirror at my reflection,
The shadow of a figure that used to be,
Looking closer that shadow is me.

An empty shell that used to be full,
An exciting life but now it's dull,
Affairs of the heart that lasted a while,
Good times we've had that raise a smile.

Out with a group having a drink,
Looking in from the outside makes me think,
There's something strange but it may be nowt,
Then I realize I'm the odd one out.
