Once you were dead you were dead, but that didn’t mean the body given to you in the afterlife couldn’t feel the pain of death over and over again.
Lucifer bowed his own head to Gage, his gaze lingering on his unusually bared nether regions, before he strolled away as he began sucking the blood from his fingers. He took in the sight before him, the game of monkey in the middle that was still going strong, with only a raised eyebrow to Gage.
Holding out his hands in an innocent gesture Gage just shrugged, “really he did it to himself.”
Lucifer considered his answer for a long moment before turning to the laughing crowd, then without any warning he leapt into the air, grabbing Bane’s arm mid-flight between Rage and Fury. The whole room shuddered when he landed, and those not already on the knees were quickly sent there.
Except for Gage, he was still using his sword as support so he managed to stay upright. Just one more notch he took Bane down, with him on his knees and Gage on his feet…yup, he grinned, it felt good.
Not being a, uh, man of many words Lucifer tossed Bane back his arm without further instruction. Really, if Lucifer had something to say to you, then it wasn’t for the better. Another matter Bane had demonstrated so well as of recently. Gage rounded the throne knowing it was finally time to get to business as Lucifer draped himself over his gilded seat, shooting one last grin at Bane as he worked to get his arm on right.
Yes, that was going to take the demon a long time to live down. And though completely Gage’s own fault, he was sure Bane was going to make Gage’s life in hell extra miserable until said incident was forgotten.
It was totally worth it.
With a simple roll of his hand Lucifer called matter to order and Gage gave him a bow from the waist this time before beginning, “matters on earth are going…well…”he thought about it, “well they’re going.”
Lucifer shifted in his seat, leaning his elbow on the armrest and grabbing his chin thoughtfully.
Okay, that was good. There was no questions about his wavering power, no questions about souls being returned to the realm of the living. Not that he would have known specifically that Sera’s soul had come and gone, but Lucifer had a number of lesser demons on retrieval duty of lost souls and if they had seen what Death had done then they wouldn’t have hesitated to tattle tale.
“I’m still waiting on conformation from her own lips that she had done as such, but on my own life I know I have the one responsible for your disciple’s trouble.”
This earned Gage a nod of approval from Lucifer…and a number of grumbles from the crowd gathered once they realized Gage was still undefeated.
Except for Bane, of course he just had to flap his gums, “so then why not just drag it out of her and get this over with?”
“Because it’s not that simple,” Gage looked to him bored, he was still struggling to get his arm back in just the right spot, “which you would have known if you would have let me finish. She is of the innocent,” he turned back to Lucifer, “many petty crimes on her soul but not enough to weigh her for your kingdom.”
“And you know this how?” Lucifer muttered as he slouched in his seat, linking his fingers over his stomach.
Now that Gage didn’t like, was a little too close to his lord’s genitals for his liking.
“Death confirmed it for me,” Gage said quickly, “I could have her here in a moment’s time if you’d like to hear her say as much?” he gestured behind him as if he could just run out in the hall and grab her.
