This was when Bane charged, while Gage was busy surveying the room. He must have thought Gage was distracted by their audience. He wasn’t, he knew better. All the while he had made sure to keep Bane within his sights and simply side stepped the beast at the last moment. He hit the frozen wall hard enough to shake the nearest sconce loose, but not hard enough to rattle the pea brain behind his thick skull.
Gage just sighed when Bane spun to attack him again, he really didn’t feel like this right now. Have time for it? Sure, since Lucifer was the one he was to report to was still occupied, but want to…not at all.
His mind was in a different place, or rather with a soul in a different realm for that matter. He frowned and rubbed at his chest at that thought, though he wasn’t given much time to consider the notion before a large brown arm came swinging at Gage as Bane made his next pass. Still better prepared for the fight then Bane, Gage ducked the blow and shot him an upwards punch where a human would have kidneys. And though most demons didn’t have quite the same anatomy as humans, it was still a good squishy spot where Gage could dig his fist in.
Bane let out an angry bark and swung his other fist downwards before Gage had the chance to get away. It caught him right between his wings and had him stumbling into the floor. An opportunity Bane wasn’t going to waste. He stomped on the side Gage had just managed to heal over before reaching for a wing. Coughing up his black blood- again- Gage just let him, saving his energy for his next strike. As Bane hauled him off the floor he called for his blade, reaching outwards as it came to form in his hand he let Bane do the work for his as he spun him around, causing Gage to sever his arm off. That’s what hellfire forged blades were known for after all, their clean cutting abilities.
He was hoping for his head, but the arm was an acceptable substitute.
This time Bane roared, but Gage was forgotten for the arm trying to crawl back to its master. He wasn’t going to let it end that quickly though, and before Bane could reach for his missing appendage Gage used his sword like an earthen hockey stick and sent it sliding to the other side of the room.
But he wasn’t the only one keen on the game.
As Bane shoved by a laughing Gage, Sorrow picked up his arm and threw it across the room to her brother Rage. Who then tossed it to Fury, who tossed it to Menace, who threw it to Agony…
Gage was in tears he was laughing so hard at Bane and his feeble attempts to grab his flying arm out of the air.
He hadn’t wanted to come to hell when he was still on earth, didn’t want to leave Sera, and he was hoping maybe Lucifer would have forgotten about their appointment. But this…this made it worth it. He wasn’t even mad when Bane came stomping over to him, bleeding his own caustic blood all over Gage’s bare torso, and demanded he put an end to this. In fact it just made Gage laugh harder.
C’mon, big bad Bane asking Gage of all people for help?
Furious, Bane just tossed him aside with another growl, sending him sliding across the floor into the wall behind Lucifer’s throne.
Oh it hurt to laugh and Gage wrapped his arms around his torso to try and hold himself together-literally- but it was a good hurt.
He had just dug the tip of his blade into the icy floor to heave himself up on when the door to Lucifer’s chamber flew open. He straightened out of his hunch quickly for a couple of reasons, and just nodded to his lord as he strolled from his chambers. Not saying a thing about the blood he had dripping off of him, the red blood of a human soul that was and not the black acid they all held inside them.
