Never take things for granted. Cherish the people you love because it only takes one bullet to end a life.
"911 whats your emergency?" said the phone operator.
" Yes, my friend Aaron has been shot!" he replied.
"Can you tell me where you are?"
"Jefferson street in downtown Memphis!"
I bet you're wondering who is "he". He is me.... I was on that phone at the other end of that phone. A huge wave of emotion mixed with disbelief, anger, hatred, and fear rushed down my body. I was confused.
"Should I be scared for my life? should I panic?" I thought to myself but I didnt show any sign of emotion. I was still in Disbelief. I really hope he makes it. Who knew that tonight was the night I might lose my homeboy. He did nothing to nobody. I thought of him like my blood brother. Ill do anything for my homeboy and now he's out here laying on the ground, motionless in a pool of his own blood, gasping for air.
3 MONTHS EARLIER......
"Aye man you coming over and watch the game after school? You know The heat playing against the celtics for the play offs all week." Aaron said.
"Hell yeah man. You can count me in. You food at your house right? I'm starving. " I said.
Aaron chuckled
"You already know my momma cooked something. She probably cooking right now." He said.
" Bro your mom makes the best fried chicken and cornbread."
"Yeah she be sticking her foot in that food. Mommas cooking always be good."
*RING RING*
"Oh shit! Man I better get to sixth period before Ms. Newman trip about me being late." I said as I ran down the hallway hearing Mr.Jones the biology teacher yelling "NO RUNNIN IN THE HALL BEFORE I GIVE YOU D-HALL"
Mr Jones know he loves giving out D-hall but instead i kept running ignoring him. I quickly slumped into my seat before the teacher noticed me. Ms.Newman's class, is the most hated class and teacher on campus. I hate her class too, all she does is just talk, talk, talk nonstop the entire class period. Mr Foster, our principal needs to fire her already. No one learns a thing in her class. Last year she almost caused the entire senior class to fail.
*Tick Tick*
I starred at the clock waiting on the final tick to dismissal.
*Ring Ring Ring*
All the kids raced out the room into our bus loops. I was second wave but today I decided to skate to Aaron's house. I searched around the room for my skateboard. I grabbed my backpack and sprinted outside to meet Aaron.
"Aye! homeboy wait up!" yelled Aaron as he ran to catch up with me.
"Wassup?"
"We still on for the game tonight? I got a text from my momma." He said.
"Oh really? what did she say?"
"She made food and rotell dip my nigga."
"Oh shit! she cooked the right day bro."
"Hell yeah man you know what it is"
"Yo how much you wanna bet that the celtics gonna knock the brakes off the heat"
"No way the heat got this shit. We got wade on our team."
"Aight that dont mean nothing we got Paul Pierce and Ray Allen but lets bet 20 dollars on this shit homeboy."
"Bet. Lets shake on it."
We shook on it.
