When I wake up, I feel pain in my leg. I sit up, grab my crutches and walk to the stairs. I scoot down and this time, I remember to grab my crutches and take them down too.
I go into the kitchen and get out the oatmeal, and heat the water. As I wait for the water to heat up, I can't help but think about Justin.
While I'm eating, mom comes in. "How's your leg feeling?" she asks.
"It hurts," I say.
"Well take you medicine then. You can take it twice a day, but only if you need it," she replies.
"Okay," I say. I take my medicine, and head back upstairs to change. I realize I have dance class later today. I guess I won't be going to that, I think. Well, maybe I will.
*Later that night*
"Mom, can I go to dance? I know I can't actually dance, but I still want to go," I ask.
"Sure honey!"
"I'm going to go brush my hair and grab my purse. Then we can leave," I say.
As I walk out the door I hear a lawn mower, and smell freshly cut grass. I turn my head towards the sound and see Justin cutting the grass. He sees me and smiles and waves. I smile and wave back. I wish I could stop and talk to him, but I don't want to be late. I get in the car, place my crutches in the back, and then we leave.
When we get to the studio, I have to force myself out of the car. It's hard to come here knowing that I won't actually get to dance. Dancing is my life, and I don't know what I'm going to do without it.
I walk in, and go to the larger studio. I know Brooklyn will be practicing her solo in there. Right when I walk in she sees me, and she runs up to me and gives me a hug.
"Hi! How are you doing!? You didn't have to come to practice you know," she says.
"I know, but I wanted to. My leg doesn't hurt that bad," I say.
"Hi Melanie! I'm so glad you're okay," says our teacher Miss Tori.
We talk for a little while, then Brooklyn goes back to practicing, and I stay and watch. When her class is done, I go back home.
When I get home I go outside and sit on the porch swing, and watch the sun set. It was hard to go to dance. Living with a broken leg is going to be hard too. I'm just glad I got to see Justin today. And just the thought of Justin makes me smile. Maybe I'll get to see him tomorrow. Then I have the perfect idea. I still have to give him his container back from when he gave me the cookies, so that gives me an excuse to see him.
