CHAPTER THREE
A thick winter coat a beige cotton shawl circled his neck while he watched the streets. He waited patiently as he feels the small little box that was hiding inside his pocket.
He entered into a jewellery store and got a round and shiny solitaire diamond ring for her. It will be this day that he would knelt down for her hand. A mark of their new beginning where he will give her a lifetime promise of happiness.
His eyes looked across and stared at the lady that walked over. She had her hair short and was wearing heavy makeup. Grace seemed like someone else which he hardly knew. However, it didn't sway his decision that he had made.
No matter how much she would change, he will not change his love for her.
"You've got short hair" He smiled as she embraced him.
"I didn't" She looked up, with a sadness drew across her face.
"What you mean?" He was confused as he walked along the street with her. He led her to the his place which was just a few blocks away. It would be a perfect and quiet spot for his promise to be spoke.
Suddenly, she stopped moving. Her eyes stared for long moments.
He was worried. It seemed that something was putting Grace in a difficult situation to even tell. His heart was too weak to handle anything that was negative after all he had just lost his closest kin.
"Marvel, I am not Grace" She formed the words. Her lips shivered as she frowned in worries for him.
"I don't get you"
She bit her lips as she continued of what was not finished.
"I am just someone that your mother didn't arrange. I wasn't supposed to be here in the beginning."
He was lost, looking at her in confusion. The sadness she had feels of her guilt. He couldn't understand how does it make a difference even she wasn't Grace. He loved who she is and it doesn't matter if she wasn't the one whom supposed to date with.
"Grace didn't want to go for the arranged date so I went for her. Because... I had a fight with my husband"
It felt like a twisted tale. His novels had never been so dramatic compared to the reality which was now facing. A tight grip caught his breath. He looked up at the lady that portrayed so many lies in the relationship she had with him.
"What's your name?" His shaken thoughts left him with the only question that he could ask.
"Silver, I'm Silver Draw Franklin. My husband's Franklin" She replied.
"Thank you... Silver" A stranger name as he called. Turning around while his tears dwell in his eyes, afraid to break down at that moment.
The night was slow and tormenting. He lay quietly on the bed, staring at the ceiling while he recollected. Those dates and love letters that they both shared. His eyes shut tightly. faintly expressing a smile on the face. He was glad that his mother hadn't been able to witness this ending.
"Mother, I miss you" Penning down his thoughts, the scribbling faintly craved words on the notebook.
