The Four Princes
The kingdom of Aryavarta had witnessed many wars.
It had seen kings rise from dust and fall beneath golden crowns. It had watched blood stain the battlefield, temples rise toward the heavens, and dynasties disappear into the pages of history.
But there was one thing the kingdom had never witnessed before-
Four princes whose destinies were tied together long before they knew one another.
The night the story began, the royal palace of surya Garh was illuminated with hundreds of oil lamps.
Golden diyas lined the marble corridors. Fragrant smoke from sandalwood and jasmine drifted through the open courtyards, while musicians played beneath the moonlit palace arches.
Tonight was not an ordinary night.
It was the celebration of the return of the kingdom's two princes.
Prince Dharam and Prince Veer had returned from the northern frontier after months of training and military campaigns.
The palace was overflowing with nobles, ministers and visiting royals.
Yet, despite the grand celebration, one person seemed entirely unimpressed.
Veer stood near one of the palace pillars, dressed in his ceremonial royal attire, his sword hanging at his waist.
He looked every bit like the warrior prince everyone feared.
Unfortunately, his expression suggested that he was already tired of being a prince.
"How long am I supposed to stand here?"
Dharam, standing beside him, didn't even turn his head.
"Until you learn to behave like a prince."
Veer frowned.
"I am a prince."
"Exactly."
"Then why am I being treated like a prisoner?"
Dharam finally looked at his younger brother.
"Because prisoners are usually quieter."
Veer stared at him.
For a moment, there was silence.
Then Dharam's lips twitched.
Veer narrowed his eyes.
"You were joking."
"I occasionally do."
"You?"
Dharam raised an eyebrow.
"Should I laugh louder?"
Veer scoffed, but a reluctant smile appeared on his face.
Despite their differences, the brothers were inseparable.
Dharam was the calm to Veer's storm.
The voice of reason to Veer's temper.
And whenever Veer's anger threatened to get him into trouble, Dharam was usually the one dragging him out of it.
Usually.
Because tonight, even Dharam couldn't prevent what was coming.
---
Far away from the two princes, another royal family had just entered the palace.
The announcement echoed through the grand hall.
