The bell rang.
And the arena exploded.
Thousands of voices crashed together beneath the stadium lights, chanting one name over and over again.
"WOLF! WOLF! WOLF!"
Hayden Reyes stood in the center of the ring.
Blood ran from the corner of his mouth.
His chest rose and fell beneath the harsh lights, every breath heavier than the last.
His left shoulder screamed.
His ribs felt like they had been crushed beneath a truck.
His right arm was already beginning to go numb.
But his eyes remained cold.
Focused.
Dangerous.
The Wolf was still standing.
Across the ring, his opponent stared at him through swollen eyes.
The heavyweight fighter had spent eleven rounds trying to destroy Hayden.
And Hayden had spent eleven rounds refusing to stay down.
The referee raised a hand.
"Fight!"
Hayden moved.
His feet dragged slightly against the canvas.
His opponent charged.
A right hook came toward his face.
Hayden ducked.
Pain shot through his ribs.
He ignored it.
He stepped inside.
One punch.
Two.
Three.
The crowd screamed.
Hayden's left fist connected with the man's jaw.
The fighter stumbled.
Hayden followed.
Another punch.
Then another.
For one brief second, the entire world disappeared.
There was only the ring.
Only the opponent.
Only survival.
Then-
CRACK.
A devastating blow slammed into Hayden's right arm.
His bones screamed.
His fist dropped.
Hayden staggered backward.
The arena went silent.
He looked down.
His right arm hung strangely at his side.
Something was wrong.
Very wrong.
But before he could react, his opponent attacked again.
A brutal punch struck his ribs.
Hayden folded.
Air exploded from his lungs.
He dropped to one knee.
The crowd erupted.
