aly's pov:
Lately, there has been so much work for every single class that I have. I have tests every single period every single day for the end of the marking period, and cosmetology is hitting me hard with all this homework and the tests every other day...it was really too much.
Even though I have so much work to do, I always take my time to try and talk to Lainey. I send her texts every couple minutes and ask her to call but she always says shes busy or doing something else, which I understand, but I also feel like she can take a couple minutes to talk to me. I try to understand it, but its not like she's also texting me whenever she can... She only texts me goodmorning, tells me shes busy, and then says goodnight. I mean if I could put in all this effort, why can't she? I know we're busy, but sending a couple texts doesn't even take long. And at lunch, we barely even talk. We just sit and she talks to her friends while I sit there occasionally making remarks and popping in to the conversations.
At this point, I cant even tell if shes actually THAT busy or if its something she has against me. I dont know what I did wrong, I just wanna talk to my sweet girl.
Every single night, I stay up worrying wondering what could have had happened for her to completely ignore me every day, and I realized I had to talk to her about it, so I decided to text her.

aly: hi lainey we haven't talked in a while, do you have time to right now?
lainey: uhh yeah I can rn why?
aly: I just really miss you like so much and you've been kinda ignoring me this whole week and its making me sad because ive been texting you just for you to say goodnight at the end of the day and never respond to my messages
lainey: ignoring you?
aly: yes lainey, ignoring me.
lainey: oh
aly: yea...maybe we should meet up? let's go on a walk.
lainey: ok im omw
...
lainey: here

aly: kk coming out now

I responded to laineys message, sprayed some perfume, and put some lip gloss on. I wanted to still look cute for her, no matter what terms we're on.
I slip my sandals on and leave my house and see lainey leaning against the wall of my house, just on her phone.
"hi" I say walking up to her with a slight smile
"hey" she says putting her phone in her pocket as she starts walking.
"so...why have you been ignoring me? ive been texting you so much but you send me like 5 texts max daily " I said as I walked and looked at her.
"uh ive just been busy with studying. my bad" she responded while walking to the left of me, as she looked down.
"did I do something?"
"no, why?"
"lainey you usually talk to me, even if you have studies."
"well ive just been extra busy lately. I said my bad."
"lainey..." i say quietly with a shaky-cracky voice as I stop walking and face her.
She looks up at me and examines my face as she sees the tears swimming in my eyes as my lips quiver. I can see her face soften, but it still shows little expression.
